The Club was included in a fishing resorts article in the Vancouver Sun and Province today:
We have a long tradition of taking group photos at the end of every Hakai camp, but often these get lost. This year we are trying to obtain and collate group photos for all camps. Please share your 2017 Hakai group photo on Facebook or submit it to the fall dinner photo contest. The photos below are for Group 3 (beach) and Group 10 (bunkhouse).
The Hakai Land and Sea Fishing Club annual fall dinner is just over a month away. Dinner details will be sent to members before the end of this month. Please share your fishing trip photos as we will be running a photo slideshow and giving out prizes for the best photo submissions at the fall dinner. Please send your photos to Oscar Gustafson at [email protected] as an e-mail attachment (up to 15 MB) or using a file sharing website (e.g., Dropbox.com) before Monday, September 18. Thanks in advance for your responses.
Hakai camp officially opened on July 13 for the 2017 season. The fishing has been good with lots of smaller chinook 10-15 lbs and several larger ones >20 lbs. A few coho are already starting to show up. There is a new cook in camp and reports of fantastic meals. The packing list on the Hakai website under the Accommodations tab has been updated, so please use it especially if you happen to forget things and distribute it to your guests. Have a great fishing season and feel free to share your experiences on this Facebook page or by using the website email under the Contact tab.
Attention Hakai Club Members: The 2017 Camp Reservations Package and Camp Schedule are now available to Members by e-mail from Paul Manning. The early registration deadline for reservations is February 10, 2017. First camp of the season (Group 1) is a four day camp starting on Sunday, July 16, 2017. Last camp of the season (Group 12) is a three day camp starting on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Changeover days are Sundays and Thursdays. Please contact Paul if you are a Member an...d did not receive the reservations package by e-mail. If you are considering joining the Club as a new member now is the time to act. To inquire please contact Paul Manning at 604-560-5050 or by e-mail at [email protected] or [email protected] As you can see by the photos below we have an amazing beach in front of our camp that sees limited use during the day since everyone is out fishing. At night it's a great place to sit by the fire pit and share fishing stories.
Paul Manning will be e-mailing the 2017 Camp Reservations Package to all club members before the end of January. We initially plan for 12 camps each season; six three night camps and six four night camps. Each camp has 16 fishers; so if we run 12 camps our capacity is 192. Our changeover days are Sunday and Thursday. If you are a new member or if your e-mail has changed please contact Paul with the new contact information. It's also a good time to phone your fishing colleagues if you are bringing a guest or joining other members as a group. If you are considering joining the Club as a new member now is the time to act. To inquire please contact Paul Manning at 604-560-5050 or by e-mail at [email protected] or [email protected] It's going to be another amazing fishing season so make plans now so you don't miss out!!!

We replaced our fibreglass boat fleet with new aluminum boats for the 2016 fishing season. Our new boats are specifically designed for fishing Hakai Pass by Ironwood Boats in New Westminster, BC. The Ironwoods are 20’ long by 7.5’ wide welded aluminum hulls with centre console controls and powered by 75 HP four stroke Yamaha engines. The electronics include Garmin GPS sonar/chart plotters and Icom VHF radios. So far the feedback is that the new boats are awesome fishing machines!!!
Our Hakai fishing camp is nestled among tall cedars and firs on the remote central west coast of British Columbia. It consists of a kitchen and dining room, guest quarters for sixteen (two to a room), storage areas, and staff quarters. The guest quarters were replaced for the 2016 fishing season with a new eight room bunkhouse with ensuite bathrooms and showers. Feedback on the new guest quarters is that everyone is impressed with the increased comfort and quality of the workmanship.
