As essential workers, we are here for you! The safety of our residents, patients, staff, physicians and our community remains our top priority. We care deeply about our communitys wellbeing and these processes are in place to help protect everyone. The hospital and Edgewater continue to adapt to our new reality. COVID 19 has changed many things for us but one thing remains consistent. We are here for you when you need us. ... Here are highlights of some of the COVID 19 changes. (please note that process are frequently reviewed and adjusted when appropriate or required) Visiting is restricted. If you have questions, please contact us. There are different restrictions for different areas. It is best to check directly with your care team regarding your unique situation. We screen you as you come through our doors. Our staff and physicians are screened too. We wear masks and we ask you to wear one too. In some areas, you will see additional levels of personal protective equipment (PPE). The PPE that staff/physicians wear, varies based on the situation. Our testing centre at 420 Lock Street West is open Mondays and Wednesdays. 9:00-11:00am & 12:00-2:00pm. No appointment is necessary, however individuals are encouraged to book an appointment with public health by calling 519-426-6170 ext. 9999 or online at https://hnhu.org/ Our waiting areas look different- we want to limit the number of people you come into contact with. Our clinics and outpatient visits are reduced, we continue to provide virtual care when possible. Our specimen collection centre requires you to book an appointment. Please call 905-774-7431 extension 1293 to book an appointment if you need bloodwork. Volunteers remain on hold. We are missing their contributions immensely! Some health professional students will start their placements on site in September. A special thank you to each of you for doing your part to keep our community safe. Together we are stronger! If you have questions, please reach out to us. Sharon Moore Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Haldimand War Memorial Hospital and Edgewater Gardens

Haldimand War Memorial Hospital is continuing to restrict visitors to the hospital. In the Emergency Department and for clinic appointments, patients should come alone. One care partner per patient per day is allowed in extenuating circumstances to help with the patients care. For example, if there are care issues related to language barriers or cognitive barriers. For more information, please check with your care team as individual circumstances can vary. The inpatient unit has restricted visiting hours and the visits must be pre-booked by calling 905-774-7431 x 1245 .

Patient visiting at the Hospital is scheduled to resume Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Available time slots will be from 10:00- 10:30 am, 11-11:30 am and 1-1:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with visits to take place at the outdoor patio area under the sunroom, on the Lock Street side of the hospital. Family members who wish to visit hospitalized patients can make an appointment to do so by calling the hospital Inpatient Unit at 905-774-7431 ext. 1245. ... The protocol for visiting is similar to that now being used by Edgewater Gardens for resident visits. This includes following strict infection control procedures and only one visitor per patient. Visitors will be screened and must attest to having a negative COVID-19 test swab in the previous 14 days. Visitors will be provided with masks upon entering the patio area where the visits will occur (they will not enter the building itself), and will be required to physically distance two metres from the patients they are visiting and from all other people on site. COVID-19 tests are available at the Dunnville testing site, or at similar sites in Hagersville and Delhi. Appointments can be booked online on the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit website.

Attention all families and loved ones with residents living at Edgewater Gardens. Please note that the Ministry is working on opening up visits outside for families. There will be rules in place around this both from the Ministry as well as the home for safety. We will have more information the week of the 15th as we figure out the details. At this time we can say that you need to have a swab and a negative result within two weeks of the visit. We plan to open up for vis...its on June 18th as per the Ministry Directives. My recommendation would be to either call COVID hotline 519-426-6170 ext 9999 or visit the Haldimand and Norfolk Public Health website and arrange a COVID swab. At this time it would appear that you will need to have a swab every two weeks in order to continue to visit. More information to come. Please note that this is in relation to outdoor visits only (Inside our fences), there will not be any indoor visits at this time. See more

The Ontario Ministry of Health yesterday announced that, starting June 18, 2020, family members may resume visiting residents of long-term care homes, under strict guidelines. These include family members scheduling their visits, being actively screened and having a negative COVID-19 test within the previous two weeks, using face coverings and meeting residents outdoors only. The management team at Edgewater Gardens is now working on how best to organize the resumption of re...sident visits, including planning for additional staffing and ensuring strict infection control. Were happy to be welcoming visitors back to our Edgewater Gardens residents, says interim president and CEO, Sharon Moore, adding there is a lot of work to be done before this can begin to happen next week. The ministry also announced yesterday that long-term care homes can now admit residents from the community or from hospitals, again under strict guidelines. Edgewater has no available beds as of today, but is planning for the admission of new residents as beds become available.

HWMH is planning to resume some procedures paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are following the direction of the provincial government, which has recommended a phased approach to service resumption in hospitals across Ontario. If your procedure was cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic, we will contact you directly once we are ready to reschedule you. This may take some time. We appreciate your patience as we work through these new processes.

As of Monday May 25, 2020, all patients and essential visitors will be required to wear masks at all times while in our hospital. They can wear their own masks or receive one upon entering the building. It is also important to maintain 2 metres distance even while wearing a mask. Those coming with gloves will be asked to remove their gloves and perform hand hygiene when putting on or removing their mask.
