Phase 1 of the installation of The Grand Remediator is completed! In this video, Paul Chartrand discusses how important local community involvement was in the c...reation of this art piece. During a workshop, participants were asked to create mind maps which provide a snapshot of their relationship with the river at this time. These mind maps were then transcribed onto the hull of the sculpture. The next phase will include planting and maintenance of Indigenous plants around the sculpture. Paul is looking to select 3 artist assistants for this phase of the project and to be eligible, answer the questions below! Answer the following questions in the comments: What are three words that define you ? How do you consider yourself in relation to this project? We look forward to hearing from you! Thank you @Ipaulchartrand for sharing this art piece with us! @haldimandcounty @haldimandartworks @waterlution #participatoryart #sociallyengagedart #gagl2020

Paul Chartrand leads us through the installation process of his sculpture, while also explaining the inspiration for The Grand Remediator. This sculpture is a f...unctional monument representing how land based structures are linked to aquatic ecosystems. This sculpture was inspired by the natural water cycle and uses water runoff from the road which flows into the soil where plants filter the pollution out before flowing into a larger water body. Answer the following question in the comments for the opportunity to be selected as an artist’s assistant: What does the river mean to you, and what sort of things do you do for the river? Looking forward to reading all the answers! Thank you @Ipaulchartrand for walking us through the inspiration of this art piece! @haldimandcounty @haldimandartworks @waterlution #participatoryart #sociallyengagedart #gagl2020
