From the beginning the Haldimand and Norfolk Health Unit (HNHU) and the Board of Health have been adamant that the two community group partners would be providing better services through their sexual health clinics. Since we have not heard back from anyone in HNHU management we have to wonder 1. Why did the BOH terminate publically funded sexual health services knowing full well that the largest group that these services came from those living in poverty as well as clien...ts who used harm reduction services and support? 2. Why did the HNHU cancel services that targeted the most vulnerable residents in Haldimand-Norfolk. Why cancel services for the people without any means of transportation to Dunnville or Delhi? 3. Why is the HNHU failing to provide a comprehensive public health system that worked hard to advocate, collaborate and support the 2SLGBTQ+ clients that they services? 4. Why did the HNHU make the decision to rip this safe space away from the many people who accessed these long standing services by public health nurses? 5. Why has the HNHU putting residents that access safe injection supplies health in jeopardy by no longer allowing these clients access to STI testing, contraception to reduce unwanted pregnancies and provide immunization to prevent preventable diseases? Public health cuts hurt people. Public health saves lives. The HNHU and the Board of Health would do well to remember that COVID has caused us to realize that we are living in a time that requires a strong public health infrastructure.

Sometimes we need more than one abortion and that’s okay.

Its disappointing that the Rotary Cub if Norfolk continues to support an anti-abortion homophobic group (Norfolk Pregnancy Centre. What is even more disappointing is that the Port Dover Canadian Royal Legion partners with the Rotary Club.

Don’t be fooled. Crisis pregnancy centres like the Norfolk Pregnancy Centre and the Haldimand Pregnancy Centre are anti-choice agencies that often present themselves as unbiased clinics, social service agencies or counselling centres. They typically prey on low-income and marginalized people, they offer free pregnancy tests and counselling to coax pregnant people into their centres. However, crisis pregnancy centres are not unbiased, non-judgemental, or medical clinics. M...ost are Christian ministries. They will not refer clients for contraception or abortion, and many try to persuade people out of abortion, often through misinformation or scare-mongering. As many of our followers are aware, HNHU no longer provides sexual health services through public health. In the past, Public Health nurses would have provided care throughout all of Haldimand-Norfolk. Now people can only access services at two locations. Dunnville and Delhi. If you or someone you know has accessed sexual health services through the two community based clinics, we would like to know about your experience. Please DM us.

Konrad arrived home to find an anti-abortion flyer in his mailbox. The flyers are distributed by the group Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform and have triggered complaints to city hall. He followed them around his neighbourhood and was arrested for harassment.
