#TreeTuesday tip from our forestry staff Tree Pruning DO remove dead, dying, damaged, diseased or insect infested branches. DON'T prune more than 20% of the l...ive crown in a year. DO clean your tools before moving on to another tree to stop the spread of diseases. DON'T make a flush cut. Avoid cutting into the branch collar, and angle your cut so the smallest surface area possible will be exposed. See more

Happy Earth Day! Did you know sustainably managed forests can help maintain the Earth's carbon balance and mitigate climate change? In addition to providing ...clean air, clean water, and healthy habitats, forests act as carbon sinks. Through photosynthesis, trees absorb atmospheric carbon and deposit it in forest biomass (trunks, branches, roots and leaves), dead organic matter (forest litter and dead wood), and soils. Harvested wood products then store the carbon that the growing trees removed from the atmosphere. According to NRCan, forests have absorbed about one-quarter of the carbon emitted by human activities (i.e. burning fossil fuels) over the past four decades. See more
