Patrick Weiler, MP is in Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia. 4d "I had the pleasure of learning about the details of the Coopers Green project that will rebuild an important community meeting place in Halfmoon Bay with federal and provincial support. Today, we are announcing flexibilities for the next intake of projects under this program to both streamline approvals and make them more responsive to specific community needs during the pandemic."

Coopers Green Update by Brian Smith, Director HBCoA and Fundraising Committee AUGUST 5th 2020 Today we had the opportunity to host our MP, Patrick Weiler and our MLA, Nicholas Simons at our beautiful Coopers Green Park. Don Cunliffe did a presentation of our project which highlighted the many advantages of both the proposed building and the magnificent site. Both Patrick and Nicholas were impressed and offered their support for our efforts to close the financial gap of the SCRD share of the project. Terry Don and Brian will be meeting with SCRD staff later this month to identify the components of the gap and how to close it. Your Board came away with a very positive feeling that we will moving forward with this long awaited project sooner rather than later. Brian Smith, Director HBCoA and Fundraising Committee

August 4th 2020 Official Statement on behalf of Halfmoon Bay Community Association (HBCoA) Re: Coopers Green Proposed New Hall.... Excitement ran high especially among the 385 HBCoA members when it was announced that after 6 years of planning that funding from Federal and Provincial Investing in Canada Infrastructure Grant was approved for over $2M towards the cost of a new Coopers Green Hall Disappointment followed as it was thought the last piece of the puzzle was completed, however SCRD concerns and issues were raised but they are not unsurmountable. HBCoA have since had a meeting with SCRD Chair and Halfmoon Bays, (Area B) representative to accommodate community needs in a timely way. HBCoA will continue to work with SCRD staff to get the project underway. The new design resulted from many layers of community consultation. It included the Coopers Green Park Management, several surveys, open houses and a task force made up of a cross section of area residents as well as a representative of the SIB. This input confirmed the need for a new hall. One that included greater capacity, a commercial kitchen, accessibility and located on the site of the present hall. We are pleased to say that many individuals and organizations in the community have donated generously to project. To date we have received more than $245,000 with further pledges and offers of help to raise funds. The object of the HBCoA is to maintain and improve community life in Halfmoon Bay. Provide beneficial programs, services and communication to residents. Offer social and recreational program development and to assist in the enhancement of community pride and spirit through hosting special events. To work with schools and other associations within our community. Personally, I am very humbled that I am privileged to live on the Coast and in particularly in Halfmoon Bay. I would be remiss if I did not invite others to join our association. Information is at our website www.hmbcommunity.org Terry Knight. President. A message from our President - Terry Knight:

Halfmoon Bay Community Association 27.07.2020

A message from our President - Terry Knight: Coopers Green Park and Hall has always been a beautiful gathering place for the citizens of Halfmoon Bay and visitors to our community. In 2013/14, Tom Thelner, Terry Karleen and the HBCoA Board at that time, began talks with the SCRD offering to contribute money towards renovation and updating the Coopers Green Hall. The SCRD were not willing to support a proposed renovation. The Halfmoon Bay Community Association then offered to ...raise $300k towards construction of a new structure and the SCRD would then raise the balance of approximately $2 million. During the last 3 years, a task force of local residents has worked with the SCRD and an architect company, helping to plan and design a new Community Hall which would meet the needs and demands of Halfmoon Bay both now and in the future. We jump to 2020 where, with the help from both the Federal and Provincial governments, $2 million funding was approved. Now the Halfmoon Bay Community Association must meet their commitment of $300K of which $222K has already been raised. It is now possible to visualize a building that will be the pride of every resident set in one of the most scenic locations in Halfmoon Bay. The new Community Hall can be used by everyone, every group, every association for any occasion, examples being; birthday parties, concerts by local musicians as well as off Coast talent, cooking classes in the new commercial kitchen, board meetings, recitals, afternoon tea and yoga classes to name a few. How can you help? If you donate more than $100, the SCRD will issue a tax receipt. If you donate $500, a plaque with your name or name of a loved one, will be displayed in the new Community Hall. But of course, ALL donations, large or small are gratefully accepted. Most humbly grateful to the three couples that recently donated their COVID-19 One-time tax-free payment to Seniors ($300 each) to the fund. It is easy to donate! Call Don Cunliffe at 604-740-0833 or Terry Knight at 604-885-5034 for details. On behalf of the HBCoA Fund Raising Committee, the local task force and the HBCoA Board, we thank-you in advance for your generosity. We are certain this new Community Hall will be enjoyed by all who visit for many years to come. Warm regards, Terry

Some exciting news! Here is a note from Brian Smith, new Coopers Green Hall Fund Raising committee: "I am pleased to announce that our application for funding to the Provincial and Federal Government's Infrastructure program was approved earlier today for construction of a new Coopers Green Community Hall. Total government funding for this project will be just over $2 Million out of a total cost of $2.7 Million. Much of the balance has already been dedicated and the Halfmoon Bay Community Association has committed to raise approximately another $70k to reach the goal of $300k as our share. Further details of this excellent news will be forthcoming in the days ahead."
