I still love this one.
Try a few new looks with an Extended Session at Halifax Headshots Photography http://www.halifaxheadshots.com/blog
Barrington Street - 1918 - Post wartime Halifax/Dartmouth had a population of 65,000 people. This picture would have been 6-7 months after the Halifax Explosion.
This 1918 photo is captioned ''A dangerous sport on a Halifax Street'' and, while I may not try it today (it's 'Pizza Corner' at Blowers and Grafton), it looks pretty fun to me!
The power of the business portrait is that it lends credibility + exposure. When we can see you as the business leader, innovator, or entrepreneur, it's at that point we are more likely to register what you have to say.
Pictures are the big connectors for our information-overwhelmed minds.
Maybe this was the equivalent of setting your camera's self timer for a family portrait back in 1909... http://goo.gl/J7FUf8
A busy day on Barrington Street, Halifax, during #WWII.
Picture-time? Take 10 secs to destress. Shake yourself vigorously - like a wet dog. Roll your shoulders. Ok ... ready to go.

Photo Tip: Looking confident in photos reigns supreme - it looks great on everyone. Whatever confidence means for you, use it.

You're the driving force, as well as the heart & soul of your business. Craft your professional image to reflect that.
Looking good (in business) is half the battle.
Spring tomorrow.

Congratulations, #TeamCanada! Image ca. 1913.
Dip into this one for a few minutes of Halifax time travel.
One of my all-time favourites images, from photographer Ruth Orkin.
Here we go again!!! Our gardeners (who are on snow removal duty during the winter) will be awfully glad to see the end of this one. Thanks NS Archives for sharing this 1947 photo of the main gates on Christmas morning.
Hate having pictures done? A professional photo session is nothing more than doing little dance with the camera. I'll lead, you follow. ;-)

Come spend an hour with me in the studio. Your online self will be well-dressed and lookin' good. Done.
A belated Happy New Year to all! Is this the year you'll push a little harder to get the word out about the great work that your company does? Maybe you'd like your marketing efforts, and the image people have of you & your biz to sparkle a little more brightly? Then show your right people who you are - literally! - with the help of a little professional photography finesse. Look the part, with great pics that say 'This is me, this is my business.'
What have your business' visuals done for you lately? Refresh your website & social media presence for the New Year with new pics in your marketing mix.
Business headshot past its expiration date? Use something current! Your prospects & clients will recognize you from it when they meet you.
When is the ideal time for you to book a photo session for a business headshot? Really, never, right? It's one more hoop to jump & you're fine without, or to make due with the old one that's not-horrible. But there's a reward in jumping for the updated version. Think, 1) online visibility & 2) biz credibility.
Pictures help us to form impressions in a way that words alone cannot match. Words tell, pictures sell.
Business headshots not your cup of tea? Maybe candid-style promotional pictures are more what you're after. Candid shots show you, or your staff, on-the-job and in action. They're less formal, more slice-of-life, and customized for your company.

More than your clothing choice & what your hair's doing that day, it's the intangibles that can really make you love a picture of yourself. As in, actually looking happy and like yourself. Or for business pics, looking confident and approachable.
Xmas card portraits of the kids, wedding pictures, or any other type of professional photos in your future? Consider these 2 points when choosing a photographer to work with. 1) You should should like this person, the photographer! Yes, it's a business transaction, but it's also personal. You ideally want to choose someone who you're comfy with & who you can relate to. A photo session is a back-and-forth experience, where you're actually working together to achieve those gre...at pics. 2) You should LOVE the work they show on their website! Obvious, yes, but that work is a selection of the best of what they do professionally, and every photographer's pictures actually do have a certain 'look.' If their visual style attracts your eye & you can imagine sitting down for an hour with the photographer, you're off to a good start. ;-)

Putting off getting a new business photo because, well ... you just really hate having your picture taken? Welcome to the club - you're normal! As with many things, the anticipation itself is actually the worst part. Come see me. I'll coach you through & you'll come out looking wonderful on the other side.
