For those who couldn’t join us on the Halifax waterfront yesterday, here’s a taste of what you missed at our concert in support of the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust (HMCS Sackville). Fortunately, the weather mostly cooperated, and the strong sea breeze didn’t stop us from performing. Here is A Tribute to Rodgers and Hammerstein (I Whistle A Happy Tune, Some Enchanted Evening, The Surrey With The Fringe On Top, My Favorite Things, and Oklahoma). Yesterday, September 17, 2019 (following a "Dorian delay"), the Halifax Concert Band's 47th season finally got underway! We were pleased to welcome back many returning players, but we were equally excited to see some new members as well. We hope all our fans will join us at our many concerts throughout the coming year (look for details to be posted here soon). In the meantime, here is something to tide you over, a stunning display of teenage trumpet virtuosity, recorded as a tribute to Maria Callas, who died 42 years ago yesterday. Enjoy!
