Eight Friends met for Virtal Meeting for Worship this Sunday, July 5th. We were pleased to welcome Wanda Thomas who had been attending Friends General Conference. Jessie , Christina, and Maida also attended FGC. Dick had been attending Representative Meeting, and has sent a report. Mel represent HMM at the next Rep. Meeting this summer. Six Friends are reported to have met Face-to-Face at the Public Gardens last Monday. We hope this live meeting will continue. CYM is plannin...g a virtual gathering August 7 to 15, and Charles Brown and Penni Burrill are on the planning committee. We will receive more information later. Friends may wish to think about planning winter Face-to-face Meetings for Worship, perhaps in people's homes during the cold season. May the Spirit bless us andkeep us safe during the week ahead. See you next Sunday, 10:30 a.m.! See more

Nine Friends met on jitsi for a Virtual Meeting for Worship Sunday, June 28. Some verses of Quaker Poet John Greenleaf Whittier were read. In our social time after worship, it was noted that Mary has solved her video problem and we could see and hear her clearly. Mary showed us a book a relative had given her: Vol. 1 of William Sewell's "History of the People called Quakers", which she has found very interesting with many detailed accounts of Quaker early history. Maida repo...rted her niece had sent her a large 2-volume Bible with Doré's illustrations. Mel shared some of the history of the Archives of Canadian Quakers, which had been managed by Jane Zavitz Bond for many years. Jane is now retired and a committee is working on the way forward for the Archives. It was mentioned that Halifax Meeting's Library is held at the Atlantic School of Theology and can be accessed by Friends going to the AST Library and filling out a form. Jessie shared that she is attending by Zoom the Virtual Friends General Conference next week, as is Maida. Christine shared that her friend Martha joins us from her home country, Bolivia in one of Bolivia's 2 capitals. We all noted that it is important in these times, isolated by the virus, that we reach out and maintain communication with Friends and friends, and continue to the extent possible to retain our normal routines. On Monday, June 29, a face-to-face Meeting for Worship will be held at the Public Gardens at 7 p.m. near the refreshment cafe. Roger and Jocelyne are hosting this. Bring an umbrella if it looks like rain! May Friends everywhere have a peaceful week! See more

Ten Friends met today (Sunday,June 21) for virtual Meeting for Worship, 10:30 to 11 a.m. Mary read us the Query about being aware of discrimination against people because of who or what they are, and bearing witness to the humanity of all people. Dick called our attention to June 21 being National Indigenous Peoples' Day in Canada. Maida gave an account of how Plymouth pilgrims were helped by the Wapanoag tribe, and how Edward Winslow saved the life of Grand Chief Massasoi...t, when Massasoit was deathly ill with a fever, by spoon-feeding him broth.(from Plymouth records.) In our social time, Erik introduced his friend Carl, a Quaker from Vermont who was helping Erik plant food crops on his Litchfield,Ct. farm. Jocelyne will check with the Ecology Action Centre about the status of the meeting room that Friends used before the virus emergency. Virtual worship will continue on Sundays until further notice.
