Need some tools for your long weekend projects? We’ll be open this evening from 6pm to 8pm but will be closed on Saturday, April 3rd.

This morning was a bright one at HTL with this large donation of tools! Community member generosity like this allows us to continually expand and improve our inventory and we are grateful. If you have underused tools at home that you’d like to find a new home for, we’d love to hear from you. Email us at [email protected].

Our friends at Halifax Makerspace need to sign up 12 new members by the end of March. Their members get 24/7 access to a wood shop, electronics lab, and specialized equipment, including a laser cutter, CNC mills, 3D printers, sewing machines, and more. Check them out!

Great news! The workshop will be open for all three library shifts this week with knowledgeable workshop managers present to help guide you on safely operating our tools. Reservations must be made in advance by emailing [email protected] Don’t have a workshop membership yet? We have options ranging from $30-$150, depending on how many times you’d like to access the space. Contact us for more details!

We will be closed on Saturday, February 13th, so that we can give our Saturday volunteers a break over the long weekend. We will be back with regular Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday hours next week. See you then!

Good news! We’re back with regular opening hours starting this week. You’ll find us in the library on: Tuesdays 6:00pm - 8:00pm Thursdays 6:00pm - 8:00pm... Saturdays 10:00am - 2:00pm The workshop is available by appointment only during these hours. Please email reservation requests to [email protected]. Our last day open in 2020 is Saturday, December 19th from 10am-2pm. Come pick up some tools to work on those last minute DIY gift ideas or purchase a gift membership for your handy loved ones! Our volunteers will be taking a break over the holidays and we will reopen January 9th, 2021. All tool loans will be extended during this time off. Give the gift of a Halifax Tool Library Membership this Holiday Season

In December, we will be open on Saturdays only due to limited volunteer availability. We will be open from 10am - 2pm on: Saturday, December 5th Saturday, December 12th... Saturday, December 19th We hope to be back with regular hours in January when the COVID situation improves in the Central Zone. We will adjust our reservation system to allow for 7 day reservations to help members get the tools they need.Our workshop will remain open on Saturdays but reservations via email are required. Thankyou to all members who have continued their support of the Halifax Tool Library this year. Your patronage is especially important as we all work to sustain our community resources during this pandemic. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

We are planning to be open this evening, November 26th, from 6pm to 8pm. We are monitoring the situation in Halifax daily and we will post updates as necessary. HTL COVID-19 Procedures: Please give us a call (902-444-8665) or knock at the door when you arrive at HTL to ensure there's space to be let in. ... Only one member may be in the library at a time. One volunteer may be in the library and one behind the front desk. One member and one volunteer may be in the workshop at a time. Workshop appointments are necessary. Masks are mandatory. Hands must be sanitized upon entry or provided gloves may be worn. If you are just making a return, you may knock and leave the tools inside the front door. Name and phone numbers are being collected for those who enter the space for contact tracing. Used tools are put in quarantine once returned. Please do not visit HTL if you have any covid symptoms. It's scary getting older! This week we are celebrating our sixth birthday by sharing treats with the first 40 members to come visit us! Drop by tonight or Thursday evening from 6-8pm or Saturday from 10-2pm!

Don't forgeet about our fall hours - we will be closing at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays! (including tonight)

NOTICE: FALL HOURS! As of tomorrow, October 13th, we will be closing our library at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. As the nights get colder, darker, and longer, this will allow our evening volunteers a little extra time to get home safely.
