Spring Garden Road Wastewater System Maintenance Attention motorists and cyclists, Eastern Trenchless, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology on Spring Garden Road. This work will take place on April 12-23 (weather permitting), from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM each day. This work is taking place during evenings and nights to reduce the impact on traffic. A Noise By-Law exemption has... been granted for this work. This work will require lane drops/closures on portions of Spring Garden Road between Cathedral Lane and Queen Street. There will be stop-and-go traffic in these areas during the hours of this work. Sections of the sidewalk along Spring Garden Road will also be impacted during the times noted above. Detours will be in place. Sidewalks are expected to be open outside of work hours. CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with a resin and then cured using UV light. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones. We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause. For the safety of work crews and residents, please observe social/physical distancing requirements (2 metres of separation).
