The HMS Family just keeps growing! Meet Madison Madison Mouland is a twenty year old folk musician from Musgrave Harbour NL. She is entering her third year as a voice major at the Memorial University School of Music. Although she studies and performs classical music at school, Madison is a folk musician at heart and typically performs traditional NL music as well as folk music from the ages! Madison has been singing and playing guitar for many years, and has been involved w...ith the Soundbone Traditional Arts Foundation Cultural Ambassador Program, performing for seniors, doing workshops with children and performing in other various venues. She also loves to paint and make crafts on her spare time, and she has always had a love for insects, bugs and butterflies! She hopes to someday become a school music teacher and spread her love of music to children like her who have so many musical dreams and need the guidance to make them come true! We are so excited to have Madison on our team this year. If you would like to register with her this fall, please email [email protected]

New Teacher Spotlight - Marigold Benoit! We are so excited to have Marigold join the HMS family this September! Here's a little about her : Growing up in a musical household in Stephenville, Marigold began her music education with piano and violin lessons during her childhood, and then found her passion for singing when she began voice lessons in high school. Her love for music was largely influenced and fostered by her parents and their love for music, and she also plays ...the flute, guitar, mandolin and ukulele! In addition to being passionate about music, Marigold is an avid skier, baker and hiker who loves to spend her free time exploring our beautiful province. Marigold is a recent graduate of Memorial University’s School of Music where she studied voice under Shelley Neville, and is currently working toward a Bachelor of Music Education. She is super excited to be joining the amazing team at Halliday Music Studio this fall! If you would like to register with Marigold for the fall, send us a DM or email [email protected]

For the past 2 years, Colin Mackey has led our wonderful women's choir, The deciBELLES in many songs and performances. We will miss him as he sets on his new chapter at McGill University Even though the pandemic has prevented us from being together, it hasn't stopped us from having fun and making music together virtually. We are happy to share "The Bird's Lullaby" by the incredible Sarah Quartel with you. We hope it brings you as much joy and hope as it does for us. Duri...ng this time we are so fortunate to have been able to grow into more than just a choir, but rather a community. One that is built on support, acceptance and respect. Thank you to the wonderful women in the choir who keep us laughing every week! A very special thanks to Sarah Quartel, Kellie Walsh, Jennifer Halliday-Chafe, Lisa B Sells, Aidan Saccary, and many others for their valued support.
