As we approach the end of 2020, many of us, perhaps all of us, are looking forward to saying goodbye to a difficult and challenging year; but it is important to reflect on all that we have accomplished, all that we have overcome. It is just as important to acknowledge the important lessons to be learned from the past, as we focus on the future. One of the most difficult lessons of the pandemic for HALO, like many of us, has been finding ways to deal with the uncertainty. For ...months we did not know what the future held, for months we moved from one fundraiser to the next, for months we asked ourselves, what if, what if all this is not enough. One of the consequences of uncertainty, combined with an overwhelmingly non-stop pace, is our ability to say thank you properly, to say thank you to everyone, to make sure we did not miss anyone, became impossible. It absolutely breaks our hearts to know that we may have missed someone, or not recognized them properly to you, we are deeply sorry. Please know how much we appreciate you, how grateful we are, for each and everyone one of you. 2020 represents one of the most emotional times in our history. From being forced to announce we may have to cease helicopter operations to witnessing Southern Alberta stand up and say, not if I have anything to say about it. The entire HALO Team is overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of support. We have received not only significant donations, but messages from around the world, and support from thousands of concerned citizens, business & corporations, regional governments, school boards, associations, and fellow non-profits. There is no question how important HALO is to Southern Alberta. The pandemic challenged us all in ways we had never imagined, but together we are persevering, together we are stronger. HALO was forced to accelerate plans to diversify our fund development program, to change from the way we always did things, to a new way of thinking. One of the positives of the past 12 months is HALO is stronger and more resilient than ever because of you we are planning full helicopter operations well into 2021 and with your continued support, we will be there to answer the call for years to come. From our HALO Family to Yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2021.
