FASD IS A UNIQUE DISABILITY This is a very important paper and should be circulated widely. We are often asked by supervisors, policy makers and politicians how is FASD different from other developmental disabilities? This paper answers that question with evidence and plain language. Blog: https://canfasd.ca/2020/12/03/fasd-unique-disability/... Issue Paper: https://canfasd.ca//FASD-as-a-Unique-Disability-Issue-Pape Thank you to all who contributed to make this an outstanding paper. Dr. Flannigan will be leading the work to expand some sections of this paper to prepare for a journal publication.

I was asked by CanFASD to share a summary I wrote of what I learned at a recent Stress Management Workshop I attended. Simple strategies that many of us already know but also a good reminder during these times. https://canfasdblog.com//stress-management-strategies-for/

Do you know an adult with FASD in Ontario (Canada) that would like to share their voice through a photo voice project about FASD? If so, please share this post ...or information below and ask them to send an email to [email protected] by October 31. More information will be sent to those interested/eligible, but basically it is a project where you take a photo to represent some aspect of yourself and FASD. It will be accompanied by your thoughts (words) on what that picture represents to you. The pictures and meanings will be collected and shared (anonymously if desired) to help spread awareness about FASD. This is through a grant from Health Nexus through the Ontario Government so this is why only adults within Ontario eligible. (Limited spots). There will be no financial compensation, but you will receive a framed copy of your project submission and a copy of the completed video.

Mark your calendars! We're co-hosting a webinar on sleep with the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute and Dr. Ana Hanlon-Dearman. Sleep, or lack thereof, can... be a problem for many people, but it can be a significant issue for those who have #FASD. Intended for parents, caregivers, and service providers, the aim of this presentation is to understand sleep disruption for children 6 years old and under with FASD and discuss some practical approaches to managing sleep. https://us02web.zoom.us//register/WN_HTXFojlHTUKGQETl9seWSA #Sleep #Parents #Caregivers

September is #FASDawareness month. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) is an invisible disability that affects behaviour and learning and impacts approximate...ly 4% of Canadians. We're proud to be the first airport in Canada to offer Sunflower Lanyards for passengers with invisible disabilities. By wearing a Sunflower Lanyard, passengers will be able to signal to airport employees that they may need extra help or additional time while travelling through the airport. tpia.co/3h4I0QA
