Dysport, Botox and Xeomin are all Botulinim type A Toxins that are approved by health Canada to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. Botulinim type A Toxins work by blocking nerve signals to the muscles, preventing the muscles from contracting. When the muscle stops contracting, the lines and wrinkles soften. Think of a bicep that’s been pumping iron for years! ... When should you start? Some people start in their late 20’s to prevent these lines from forming and etching deep into the skin. The longer you wait, the deeper the lines, the harder to reduce the appearance of the lines. Think of tissue paper that’s been folded and creased, it’s hard to flatten out the crease once it’s formed. Who should NOT get neurotoxins? If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a neurological or degenerative disease, you are not a candidate for this treatment. How long does it take before you see the results? You may start to see results as early as 3 days after treatment. It takes 2 weeks after your treatment to see the full results. How long does it last? On average between 3-6 months.
