Hamilton Community Cat Network 21.01.2021

Many friendly community cats find homes through HBSPCA. We are very thankful for that!

Long story short- If a new cat shows up, please post them as found and check for a microchip. This is Zen. He was trapped not once but twice, 2 years and 5km apart! After he was trapped the second time, it was decided he could be socialized and adopted because of his sweet and calm nature (hence Zen). He was adopted and shortly after, escaped through an open window. He was searched for to no avail in April 2020. Fast forward to yesterday. A kind person had been feeding him and decided to get him checked for a microchip. We had found our Zen! The feeder had been feeding him since he found her in June. If a new cat shows up in your colony, please always post as found and check for a microchip. Zen will now continue his search for his forever home.

THANK YOU to all who donated to Hamilton Burlington SPCA’s Giving Tuesday campaign for community cats. Here is a snippet of retiring CEO, Marion Emo’s response to this amazing show of generosity by our community. Many cats will be helped through HBSPCA’s TNVR program with these funds.

Help the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA raise $15,000 in 24 hours for street cats. Today is Giving Tuesday Canada, an international day of giving back. And today, Marion Emo, the retiring President & CEO of the HBSPCA is giving back. In a BIG way!... Marion will personally match all online donations, between 9am and 12pm EST, dollar for dollar up to $5,000! Abandoned and lost cats did not ask to be stray or feral, or hungry and homeless. Over 200 registered colony caregivers provide safe food, watering, shelter and arrange for spay/neuter services at the Hamilton Burlington SPCA. The solution to the over-population of street cats? TNVR and you! It takes a village of champions to spay/neuter and vaccinate street cats. Will you be part of our village? Make a difference today. Donate before 12pm EST today and with Marion’s kindness, that donation will double! https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/m/55639/donation #GivingTuesdayCA

Christmas came early for Bud! Thank you Beth Stone-Morgante and AVA for finding a home for this beautiful boy, who did not meet the requirements for the return part of TNVR. (Meaning, he wasn’t feral)
