The Hamilton Law Association is pleased to announce that Kanata Cowan has been acclaimed as the 78th President of The Hamilton Law Association for the 2020-2021 term. Kanata Cowan is a family lawyer, mediator, wife and mom who is passionate about relationships, people and family. She is using her training, industry knowledge and skill to change the way Canadian families experience divorce and separation. Kanata attended McMaster University where she earned her combined honou...rs Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. She then attended Lakehead University where she received her Bachelor of Education degree. After teaching high school science for a brief period of time, Kanata attended the University of New Brunswick to obtain her Law Degree. Kanata articled and began her career as an associate at a prominent law firm in Hamilton. In 2012, she became a sole practitioner and opened up a boutique law office in Waterdown, Ontario that focuses on family law. Kanata focuses her practice on matrimonial disputes. She has served as the Chair of the Family Law Subcommittee, Family Law Bench & Bar Subcommittee, the New Lawyers' Subcommittee, Secretary-Treasurer and Vice-President. We wish Kanata the best of luck in her coming year as President!

Horgan. Current Treasurer Malcolm M. Mercer ends his term on June 26. At Convocation that day, the first order of business will be the election of a new Treasurer.
