Interesting post on Vintage Hamilton. Maybe somebody recognizes the street or the gentleman.
Nice image of the East-end Incline Railway at Wentworth Street.
A bit of Mountain history.
From the book Vanished Hamilton III - The Hillcrest began as a dairy on Upper James near Brucedale owned by Albert Shaver. Jimmy Ciancone married Pearle Shaver ...and they took over the dairy and in the 1940s they opened a soda bar out front. The dairy industry was changing and becoming too expensive, so they built a restaurant and banquet centre at Concession and Upper Wentworth Street. For 60 years it was run by the same family and an estimated 1,000 couples had their wedding reception at the Hillcrest. ---------------------------------------------------- This popular Hamilton book is part of the 3-book Vanished Hamilton series for only $40 get all three books here: https://www.northshorepublishing.ca/christmas-bonus-offers.
From the book Prints Over Hamilton - The Inch Park area of the Mountain, back in 1959. Shown here, the water towers on the Adam Inch farmland, just south of Fennell Ave. ------------------------------------------------------ https://www.northshorepublishing.ca/prints-over-hamilton.ht
