Today, HMCS STAR held a parade that only occurs once every few years for a unit, a change of command. Today, we bid farewell and following seas to CDR Churm, t...he 35th Commanding Officer of STAR, and welcomed LCDr Sowa, the 36th Commanding Officer of STAR. Happened to be going through some old photos. This is from an HMCS STAR Wardroom Mess Dinner in the early 1980's. The Guest of Honour was the Lieutenant-Govern...or John B. Aird. I remember the names of most in the picture, but not all so I won't embarrass myself by failing to name somebody I should remember. See more

RIP Dan Ward 17 August 2020 Dan was a Korean War veteran and worked for forty-one years in Stelco's steelmaking division (Basic Oxygen Furnace). In retirement, he was a faithful volunteer onboard HMCS HAIDA. Predeceased by his wife, June. He will be missed.
