This weekend my wife Diane and I were grateful to be vaccinated at two of the City's mass vaccination clinics. Thanks to all the staff, our #HamiltonHealthPartners, and to Hamilton Public Health Nurse Laurie Doma for administering my vaccine. The entire process was quick & painless! Diane booked us both on the provincial booking tool (Hamilton.ca/vaccinebooking), as soon as we were eligible. My vaccine was at the First Ontario Centre Vaccine Clinic where I received the Pfi...zer vaccine. I encourage everyone to book as soon as they are eligible to protect themselves, their loved ones and their community. We know residents are anxiously waiting to get vaccinated. Within supply and capacity constraints Hamilton Public Health is working diligently to vaccinate populations in the city right now, including persons aged 60+, 50+ in hot spot areas, homeless populations, Indigenous adults, and starting this weekend, and all homebound residents. Please tune in at 3 pm today on Cable 14 or the City’s YouTube channel for an update with Hamilton’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Elizabeth Richardson, on the rollout, including updates on the vaccination of essential workers. 23% of eligible Hamiltonians have received a vaccine as of the end of day, Sunday, April 11th. 133,544 total doses have been administered in Hamilton. . #HamOnt #HamiltonOntario #Ancaster #DundasOn #StoneyCreek #Flamborough #Waterdown

Hamilton joins everyone in Canada and throughout the Commonwealth in mourning the death of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. On behalf of Hamiltonians, I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II and the entire Royal Family. With fondness, we recall Prince Philip’s visits to Hamilton including, in 1951 when a then Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh circled our Civic Stadium greeting the large crowds (pictured here) and i...n 1980 when he opened the Hamilton Public Library. Prince Philip was also the Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (Wentworth Regiment), a role he has held since 1978. We will remember Prince Philip for his service, which was long and enduring. May he Rest In Peace. The flag at City Hall is lowered to half-mast today in his honour.

Outdoor garden centres and plant nurseries, and indoor greenhouses that engage in sales to the public, are permitted to operate with capacity limits and restricted hours of operation. https://news.ontario.ca//ontario-enacts-provincial-emergen

Under the Stay-at-Home order, everyone should remain at home except for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services (including getting vaccinated), getting exercise outdoors, or for work that cannot be done remotely. https://news.ontario.ca//ontario-enacts-provincial-emergen

It was a pleasure to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and my Big City Mayors' caucus colleagues on the critical challenges facing cities through the pandemic. We are grateful for the Safe Restart funds in 2020 and we look towards a continued partnership for cities to lead Canada's economic recovery. Very encouraged to hear from Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc on stronger federal-municipal partnerships and finding predictable and durable fun...ding solutions. This allows cities to plan, effectively aid the COVID-19 recovery and better position ourselves for future unpredictable events. Also great to meet with NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh in the Big City Mayors' Caucus, who directly linked cities' housing and transit projects to our recovery. Mr. Singh also spoke on the need to address the #SheCession and temporarily double the gas tax which could help municipalities tremendously. This past week at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Big Cities Mayor's Summit, we met with all party Leaders and expressed the need for an active partnership on infrastructure, public housing and homelessness for a strong and inclusive post-COVID recovery. #HamOnt #CdnMuni

High case numbers reported this past week are a reminder that we all need to keep doing our part to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our community. Wash your hands, stay at least 2m away from people you don’t live with, wear a mask and stay home as much as possible. What happens next is up to all of us. https://www.hamilton.ca/coronavirus... #HamOnt
