HTAL Documentary Film Series We are proud to announce the upcoming documentary series, Music that Moves Us. We will be exploring the power of music on many levels including surprising benefits to health and even hardened prisoners. We will examine the roots of rock and roll music. There will be four documentaries, each followed by a relevant speaker and question and answer opportunity... Where: Spectator Auditorium, 44 Frid Street Hamilton (Free parking across the street) Day and Time: Thursday evenings, 6:30 pm 9:00 pm Cost: $40.00 for all films and includes tour of the music lab** Walk-ins admitted for $10.00 per movie Purchase at the fall HTAL lecture series, starting October 5th 2018 Cash or Cheque only Movies: Jan. 10th The Nature of Things: I’ve Got Rhythm This documentary explores how the world-famous McMaster (Music) Live Lab operates, and demonstrates how music is helpful to many disorders . Dr. Laurel Trainor, director of McMaster Live Lab will be our speaker. Jan 24th Rumble: Indians Who Rocked the World This is a fascinating documentary showing the indigenous contribution to rock and roll music Our speaker, Tim Johnson, Producer of the movie Rumble will delight you with new information. Feb. 7th Alive Inside This documentary is about how a group of non communicative persons with dementia in a nursing home are brought to life with musicvery touching The speaker Karen Robins, the Public Education Coordinator for Alzheimer Society of Hamilton and Halton. Feb 21st Music From the Big House This documentary shows how Rita Chiarelli, a well known blues singer, travels to Angola prison in Louisiana to do a concert for the prisoners This moving documentary shows how music softens the most hardened criminals and Rita Chiarelli is our guest speaker! . **January 17, 6:00 pm McMaster Live Lab tour The McMaster LIve Lab will offer a tour of their facilities as part of our subscription. The tour can accommodate 60 people, If more want to attend, we can arrange a second tour. Directions will be given at a later date. SCORE at McMaster (Music) Live Lab McMaster Live Lab will be showing the documentary, SCORE, on November 9th.at 8 pm This documentary examines the importance of music in movie productions.
