We’re on the move! We recognize the importance of voicing your opinion and respecting the sanctity of City Hall space that has been designated to do so. To support the voices of Hamiltonians, Winterfest 2021 will move away from City Hall and closer towards your home! Think of it like a festival in a box the fun will be delivered to 12 select parks across the city. We’re looking forward to popping up with delightful art installations, light shows, and live feed concerts. ...This means more local activities, more unique experiences and less travel. It’s true what they say, the more the merrier, right? Winter Tracks Call for Artists In partnership with the City of Hamilton and our stellar Business Improvement Areas, Hamilton Winterfest is proud to launch Winter Tracks! Winter Tracks is an audio/visual experience that will help pull residents out of their homes in February to explore the 13 BIAs across the city. We’ll help wash away the grey, add a spark of colour, and bring music to the ears of residents while they #spendithere, #shoplocal and get some much needed exerc...ise. Visual Artists Local visual artists are invited to paint two sides of the Winter Tracks station. We’ll send you the music that will playing from your station and you get to create a vibrant image to match. Artists will be supplied with the pre-cut wooden panels (sample image below) Artist Fee: $350 Musicians/Bands Local musicians and bands are invited to submit music to be played in the Winter Tracks stations. Each station will play the music of one musician/band. We need a minimum of 30 minutes of pre-recorded music per station. This can be your latest album, or a compilation of your music. All music must be original recordings. Since these will be in the public realm, the music needs to be safe for general public listening and include no hate speech or explicit language. Each year we commission a series of inflatable sculptures by local artist Tanis Sydney Macarthur This year she's taken her inspiration from Group of Seven paintings in the @Art Gallery of Hamilton collection by Lawren Harris. This series of three massive icebergs will be lit with LED lights and on display at the Winterfest Hub. They're sure to be an Instagram hit with coves and features made for capturi...ng great moments with our guests. Hamilton Winterfest Signature Event: "This Is Here" presented by the HAG - Hamilton Aerial Group is an annual aerial and puppet based theatre performance! This gorgeous 50 minute visual feast of skilled vertical dance features aerialists and stilt walkers. This company of 11 performers have created a performance based on the book "Falling Into Place" by award winning Hamilton author John Terpstra depicting a love and reverence for the natural world and the history in and around the Hamilton Harbour. The show starts tomorrow at the Hamilton Waterfront Trust Centre and runs through to Saturday. Get your tickets now!
