Hampton COURT Retirement HOME 05.05.2021

April 1, 2021 All Public Health Units Move into Shutdown The provincial government announced today that it is imposing a provincewide emergency brake and all 34 public health units will be moving into shutdown effective Saturday, April 3 at 12:01 a.m. for a period of at least four weeks.... Note that the current COVID-19 Response Framework (colour zones) will be paused when the provincewide emergency brake comes into effect on April 3. Retirement homes must adhere to the policies and procedures under the ‘Grey (Lockdown) or Shutdown’ column in this scenario matrix. Below is an overview of the policies and procedures for homes during the provincewide shutdown. Note that everything remains the same in Shutdown as in Grey (Lockdown) except for the new limit of 5 people for outdoor organized events or social gatherings. VISITORS Support Workers Any number of support workers who are care providers (regulated health professionals or unregulated care providers) may visit a resident in a home at a time. A maximum of one (1) support worker who is NOT a care provider per resident may visit at a time. Caregivers (Essential Visitors) A maximum of one (1) caregiver per resident may visit at a time. If two (2) caregivers live together, they may visit a resident at the same. Personal Care Service Providers Not permitted in the home. ABSENCES Residents may be permitted to leave the home for walks or essentials (e.g., groceries, medical appointments, filling prescriptions). Overnight absences are not allowed. NEW ADMISSIONS AND READMISSIONS Admission from community or hospital is allowed. REQUIREMENTS FOR SOCIAL ACTIVITIES No indoor organized social gatherings or activities, except with members of the same household (e.g. a suite in the retirement home). Outdoor organized events or social gatherings are limited to a 5-person maximum. TOURS In-person tours should be paused. Licensees and operators with questions should contact the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility at [email protected].

Changes to Directive 3 A maximum of 2 general visitors per resident at a time may visit a resident provided: The resident is not self-isolating or symptomatic; The home is located in a community that has not been identified under Alert or High Alert status; and The home is not in an outbreak. Due to staffing and other situations that are going on in the home, please call ahead 24 hours in advance to book an appointment. At the present time we will be doing visiting times ...1pm 4 pm Monday Sunday. Number to call is 519 797 2000 Single-night emergency room visits are now classified as non-overnight absences If a resident leaves for absences that includes at least one overnight stay, ( excluding emergency visits) upon return they must have a neg covid 19 test and be back into the home within 24 hours, they must self-isolate for 14-days under Droplet and Contact Precautions in their room. Comfort of Living is requiring Residents to be swabbed and have a neg test before coming out of isolation. Visitors unless they are Essential visitors are not allowed in to visit the Resident while in isolation. If it is deemed by Hampton Court that the Resident is needing an Essential visitor then there is one person and it will be the same person every time that will be deemed as that Essential visitor to visit that Resident at the times that have been decided by Hampton Court. Times will depend on staffing and other things going on within the Home. These precautions are put in place to protect all of the Resident and Staff. As in Directive 3 Essential Visitor is defined as including a person performing essential support services ( eg food delivery, inspections, maintenance, or health care services or a person visiting a very ill or palliative resident If visiting within the home than only surgical masks are allowed no cloth masks. As a company Comfort of Living is monitoring the situation very closely and will put in place the measures that they feel is best suited to keep all Residents and Staff safe and well. Activities as per the direction of the RHRA are limited to 10 people at a time, social distanced which for some activities it is a challenge, but we will work through this challenge and find a way that as many Residents as want to can take part in the limited activities that we are safely able to provide. I can’t thank enough the many families that helped while the elevator was down. It made this trying time much easier for Residents and Staff Once again my staff stepped up and did an awesome job, of making sure Residents got what they wanted and their care was maintained. Hampton Court Management and Staff understand completely how frustrating this to what looks like a step backwards, but as always our main concern is for the safety of your Loved one and the staff that works so hard to keep them safe and well on a daily basis Any questions or concerns please contact me Mary Stokes Executive Director Hampton Court 519 797 2000 See more

To Families, Staff and Residents .Ontario is moving to a risk-based response system that includes specific actions based on community transmission and infection spread within the sector. We will be receiving updates daily from the RHRA as to the changes we have to do to keep everyone safe.Once again we are asking Families and Residents to help us with keeping everyone safe by taking your family member out only when necessary, keep away from high traffic areas, like department stores and grocery stores, restaurants, keep bubble small. Please remember to make sure that they have been screened before going out ( this has been happening that the resident hasn’t told the staff and they have gone out without being screened) and screened when they come back in, wear a surgical mask at all time when they are out.

October 9, 2020 Information You are receiving this message because your home is in NON-ALERT status. ... As the province moves into a second wave of COVID-19, Ontario has developed a risk-based response system to continue to balance retirement home resident and staff safety with well-being. For the retirement homes sector, this includes specific actions based on community transmission and infection spread within the retirement homes. As the COVID-19 outbreak evolves, direction on retirement home visits will be adjusted as necessary, keeping the safety and well-being of residents and staff at the forefront. In addition, supports are available for homes experiencing outbreaks including access to infection prevention and control resources. These supports are prioritized by outbreak status and community alert level. The Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility has set the alert levels for all public health unit areas. While your home is not in an area deemed to be in alert or high alert status, your home must continue to take precautions outlined in Directive #3. Notification of residents, SDMs and families RHRA strongly recommends that you advise residents, their substitute decision makers and/or family members of the visitor policy and alert level as applicable.

Dear Family and Friends As you are all aware the second wave is indeed upon us. As a company Comfort of Living strives to ensure that our policies reflect a clear plan for the safety and security of our residents. As the number of COVID cases rises, no matter what the age group the risk to those most vulnerable does as well. We are looking closely at maintaining the safety of our residents, which in turns also protects our staff who are here to care for them.... It is becoming clear that we may need to review our Visiting Policy in the wake of the increase in numbers. Although the Medical Officer of Health has not put a hold on visiting in Long Term Care and Retirement Homes, or decreasing the off site visits, we feel that it is prudent for us to look at this very real possibility. Since the 18th of June residents have started visiting in house, and then been allowed to visit off site. As you know the risk every time they leave the property becomes higher. With school going back and so many regular fall programs resuming, the risk to our seniors has multiplied. With all of this in mind we wanted to make you aware that we are monitoring the situation closely. We will certainly let you know if this decision is made, but we feel that given the circumstances you will agree that your family / friends safety is still the most important priority. We will continue to keep you informed of any changes, and we can’t thank you enough for your support throughout this Pandemic. See more

Two other new... staff members are Lisa Penny and Victoria, so if you are in introduce yourself to staff that you don’t happen to know. We will be monitoring the situation in Grey Bruce and the rest of the province and will keep you up on the decisions that are made as a company. Mary See more

Staff said goodbye today to a long time staff member. Jannine has moved away and has accepted a job at another facility closer to where she is now living. She will be missed for her dedication, her friendliness, her willingness to help in any situation. Her expertise in the kitchen will be hard to follow. Even though we are very sorry to see Jannine go we wish her the best in the next chapter of her life

We are now completed week 3 of our elevator repairs and we are right on schedule. The TSSA will be here on Sept 28th to do the inspection and if everything goes ok on that day then the elevator will be up and running. Covid 19 update Directives have not changed we are doing inside visits. Visits will still have to be booked and are only going to be 30 minutes at a time, two people at a time. Surgical masks are to be worn when you are inside, for both not cloth masks. Masks... are to be provided by the visitors themselves. Both parties are to wear masks while visiting is taking place. Booking appointments please call Hampton Court at 519 797 2000 24 hours in advance. If you wish to take a Resident out please also book 24 hours in advance and mask must be worn by the resident while they are out. As we can all see the Covid 19 cases are rising in Ontario and we are just trying to keep our Residents and Staff as safe as possible. On Sept 22nd will be Jannine’s ( cook ) last day at Hampton Court. Jannine has worked here for 15 years and has moved away, so we will be losing a dedicated worker from the Hampton Court team. We want to thank Jannine for her dedication to Hampton Court and for all of the delicious meals and desserts she has made. She will be truly missed. Any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call me at Hampton Court. Once again I would love to thank the families for your patience and understanding during the Covid 19 months and also during the last 3 weeks the elevator has been down. The Volunteers have been a huge help in helping in making sure that there is a little disruption to the Resident’s as possible. See more
