The Good Food Box is a bi-weekly subscription to fresh fruits and vegetables at very affordable prices. Chep is looking to expand our Good Food Box program throughout Saskatoon in order to meet the ever growing demand for fresh, affordable and nutritious food. For this goal to be met, we are seeking help from Volunteers to open Good Food Box Depots in their communities. What is the role of a Depot Coordinator? A Depot Volunteer would provide a safe place for Chep to deliver... The Good Food Boxes in your neighborhood every second Wednesday. Members of your community would arrange to pick-up their boxes on the same day. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and help make our program more accessible to everyone. If this sounds like a role you or someone you know would be interested in please don’t hesitate to email Cory, the Good Food Box Coordinator, at [email protected] for more information.

Here is what Clara, one of our Members at Large, had to say about her role on our board: "A member at large position on the board is a great way to be introduced to the community association concept. It is flexible since the main duty is to assist as required. A recent example is cleaning graffiti from the rink door with Cathy. Often I assist Cathy with changing the HVCA sign. One evening in January it was my turn to be present for the supervised skate time. I have met new ...people from my neighborhood. I have learned a lot about the relationship between the city and the community associations. The city offers workshops for board members that can be useful for everyday life not just volunteering. I had the opportunity to participate in a workshop called "Communication Tools for De-escalation". I have found the past year to be rewarding and intend to continue volunteering." . . . Hello, My name is Cinthia and I am currently covering the Kinder Soccer Coordinator role for our association. In addition to attending monthly meetings, I set up three seasons of Kinder Soccer for 3 and 4 year olds. I currently also find instructors or student volunteers to teach each group. Our amazing Allocations Coordinator books our gym space and I submit our park permit every January for spring season. Our Online Registration Coordinator makes it easy for you to register... your child for soccer. Many hands make light work. My fellow board members are always willing to help with odds and ends when needed. The Kinder Soccer role is currently open for election. If interested please contact us! . . . My name is Kristy, and I am the Secretary for the HVCA. My main role is to take the minutes for all of our meetings, maintain records of the association, be proficient in our bylaws, and assist other Board Members as needed. Last year I assumed the Allocations Coordinator role, since the position was vacant. I work closely with the Online Registration & Program Coordinators to book the spaces for programming, meetings, and events. I also help plan events for the community, ...create ads, submit permits to the city, and keep our website up to date. These roles have been a lot of work, but I'm grateful to have the opportunity to do my part in helping make Hampton Village a wonderful community to live in! . . . My role as President is to help give the board direction, keep things moving, and communicate with a number of community stakeholders. Basically I do a lot of behind the scenes work that keep things running smoothly. In addition to attending monthly board meetings I attend program coordinator meetings, communicate frequently with our amazing Community Consultant, and meet and discuss issues with our local school administrators, the local church and community residents. I also... create each months agenda and run our monthly board meeting. It is a time intense role that I couldn't do without a supportive board. The role of President is up for election this year. My role as an Indoor Child Programs Coordinator is to run programs that help children and youth stay active (especially over the winter months). It involves finding instructors, finding the right fee, booking the location, emailing parents, coming up with new programs. These are some of the things I do. Because the HVCA is a very helpful board, I don't feel I do this alone, I know I can count on all the members to support me and the programs we run. It is a busy role but it i...s rewarding to see kids and families happy. . . Please join us at our Zoom AGM on October 14th, and consider joining our board! Last year HVCA Board members told you why they volunteer for the Community Association. This year we want to describe what we do in our roles. I have been the Communications Coordinator since 2015. The biggest component of this role is preparing the community newsletter. In this role, I write many of the articles, edit them, format the newsletter, and contact advertisers. Every year I prepare three newsletters, each twelve pages in length. All newsletters include articles int...ended to pique your interest as well as provide information about special events and classes HVCA organizes on behalf of the community. We have several advertisers in each edition as well. Many of these advertisers are committed to supporting our community and advertise in every newsletter. We hope you appreciate hearing about the services they provide. During a normal year we have two printed newsletters that are delivered by Canada Post to every Hampton Village home. The printed copies are usually prepared in the fall and spring and advertise upcoming classes and events. The winter edition is only available online. To be eligible for operating grants from the City of Saskatoon, HVCA must print a minimum of one newsletter per year. You can find previous newsletters on our website at https://saskhvca.com/newsletters/ I also change the HVCA sign which is located at the corner of McClocklin and Richardson Roads. It is changed every four to six weeks to advertise events or just to make you smile! Thankfully, Clara, another board member helps me with this task. Even though I have a specific title, I often help if another coordinator requires assistance. This can be a simple as moving supplies from one location to another, being on a planning committee for an event, volunteering at an event, or removing graffiti from the rink. Looking after all aspects of the rink is one of the HVCA board’s responsibilities. Fortunately, we have a rink coordinator who, together with his crew, makes and maintains the ice and the rink. All board members help by supervising two family friendly skating sessions each. Board members also attend monthly board meetings held the second Wednesday of the month. During this time, we take care of the business involved with being a Community Association. Meeting minutes are also posted on our website at: https://saskhvca.com/meeting-minutes/ as are descriptions of each position on the board: https://saskhvca.com//Board-Member-Roles-Responsibilities. Many hands make light work. Will you consider joining us? . . Please join us at our Zoom AGM on October 14th, and consider joining our board!
