WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT? Get outside and walk! Walking is one of the most underrated exercise out there and trust me, I never believed in it until I started walking with the stroller. On the top of what I have already been doing, 20-30 minutes workouts, walking took my weight loss to the next level. Need a proof? Look at the people in Europe. Enjoying their croissants and cappuccinos without gaining weight. They walk a lot and burn this extra calories. (thi...s is starting to change, people in Europe are getting more lazy too) Walking burns extra calories without making you more hungry. So instead of spending 1,5 hour in the gym doing workout and cardio and starving the rest of the day. Do 20-30 minutes workouts and go walking instead. Known benefits of walking outside: Better mental health, lowers anxiety Lowers cholesterol Improves diabetes and blood pressure Lowers cortisol the stress hormone Helps you lose fat Increases muscle strength, endurance and balance 30 min a day is all you need. We are alone all day with our little ones and now during the pandemic it is even lonelier. With parenting you have at least support of your family- your parents, siblings and family. ... But what about your fitness journey? Many times not even your closest people know how you feel. They don’t know, how you are struggling with your post baby body. How you don’t feel comfortable in your own skin. How you don’t keep avoiding any family pictures. So you try to get in the shape on your own but many times you quit, because you have no energy, no motivation, no support, no guidance. It is tough. Because it is just one more thing you have to do on your own and doing everything on your own sucks. Having a daily accountability, guidance and community of like minded mamas is such a game changer. All of my clients don’t even want to leave me when their program is done because they love the community and of course the results. There is always gonna be something. Life never stops. There is never be enough time, your kids are always gonna keep you busy, there are always gonna be events to go to, to indulge.... If you keep postponing your health, you end up wasting your precious time on this earth and just feeling blah and not happy and not living to your fullest potential. I am not saying looking lean will bring you happiness, but eating healthy and exercising will. Would you want to go through life feeling energized, happy, confident instead? One of my favourites. I am going to make it today! Recipe from rachelcooks.com INGREDIENTS... 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil 1 pound extra lean ground turkey 1 medium yellow onion, diced 1 clove garlic, minced pinch of red pepper flakes 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes 1 (15.8 ounce) can great northern beans, drained and rinsed 8 ounces baby spinach 3 cups low-sodium chicken broth 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for garnish INSTRUCTIONS Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Brown the turkey with the onions, garlic, red pepper flakes,and pepper until the turkey is cooked through and then onions are translucent (about 7 minutes). Add the oregano, basil, tomatoes (with liquid), and beans. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to medium-low, add spinach and cover for about 2 minutes or until spinach is wilted. Stir to combine. Add broth, stir, and increase heat to medium. Continue to cook until heated through about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan and serve. I am a busy mom on the go and sometimes I get stuck places and get hungry. So instead of hitting a drive-through, I reach for one of these super filling snacks. Protein filled snacks keep me full for hours so I don't come home starving and eating everything in sight. And with my clients who are trying ...to lose weight, we always focus on making sure they eat enough protein to help them build lean muscle mass and help them stay full while being in a caloric deficit. 1. Smoothies or shakes- of course, homemade is the best but when I am on the go there is no access to a blender. I can grab one of these in any convenience store or gas station. They are usually around 200 kcal and contain lots of protein. Super filling on the go. 2. Beef Jerky and Turkey Jerky. I love to keep a bag in my car. My son loves these too. Lots of protein and super filling. 3. Cans of Tuna- My everyday lifesaver. I eat them as a snack or throw these on the top of my salad, pasta, or sandwich for extra protein. They are inexpensive, low in calories and high in protein. 4. Greek Yoghurt- Pack a greek yogurt if you need some extra protein or sweet pick me up in the afternoon ; ) 5. Protein Bar- I am addicted to these ones from @genuinehealth. They taste like a treat, have a high amount of protein and fiber and they keep me full for hours. Total lifesaver as an afternoon snack around 3-4 pm. Keep them in your bag at all times. My favourite flavour is cherry almond. 6. Hard-boiled eggs- super underrated high protein snack. One hour workout was my minimum. I had nothing better to do back then LOL. I was fit but not as lean as I wanted to be. The problem was, the more I worked out, the more I ate. I came home, after doing an hour of full-body workout and another 30 minutes of abs, and I was starving. I... could not control how much I was eating. I was starving all the time. There is a fine line that. you can cross and working out can become counterproductive when trying to lose weight. Then my life changed when I had a baby. Guess what? I couldn't go to the gym anymore. No childcare in the gyms around me and honestly, I would not bring my 3 months baby into the gym and have strangers watching him. I had no choice. I had to start working out at home. 20-30 minutes was the most amount of time that I could do uninterrupted. It took time to get back where I was but I never looked back and my body now is leaner and stronger than before I had a baby. 3 years later. I never went back to the gym. I only went to shoot some workout videos for my Instagram. I still workout only 20-30 minutes per day and I love it. I get a great workout, I am not stressed out that I need more time. I can manage my cravings. I am not exhausted all the time. I started using this metabolic home workouts method with all my busy mamas' clients and they are getting the same amazing results as me. I could not go to the gym anymore because there was just no time and also there were no gyms around me with a daycare. Honestly even if they would be, I would not want to bring him into the daycare so young. So here I was a personal trainer with no access to the gym anymore. I knew I had to make it work somehow. Before I became a mom, I could not understand when my clients -moms were telling me they did not have time to work out. After becoming a mom, I totally understood what they meant. When your kids are little, there is no time for anything. You are lucky, when u get an hour for yourself or when you get to leave the house without them. So here I was, trying to balance being a new mom and getting back into my pre-pregnancy shape. I had to change my whole outlook on my eating and working out. I started working out at home with just dumbbells. Trust me it was hard at the beginning (not quite as exciting as gym) but it is just a habit. My workouts were short 20-30 minutes because I did not have time to workout any longer. I loved it. I loved how much time I was saving. I felt good and was not exhausted. You know before, if my workout was less than an hour long, I was not even counting it as a workout. My philosophy was the more the better and I was so wrong. I quit all of the cleanses and detoxes and ate real food, because I just did not have energy anymore to be starving myself. And something happened. I gradually lost all the weight and then some. I was so scared of getting pregnant because I was not sure if I could bounce back. I am not a naturally skinny person who can eat everything all the time. See more

Signs up for gym membership, drags her baby there or leave them home with her husband. 20 minute drive to the gym... 1 hour workout 20 minutes drive back. 2 hours later and 1 semi decent workout back home with the baby, completely exhausted. Does this for couple of weeks but quits very soon because it takes way too much time. She waits until baby is older and she can get away for couple of hours. All of this time she keeps gaining more and more weight... Sounds familiar? Trust me I have been there. I still don’t have time to go to the gym now and my son is 3 years old. I hated wasting all the time driving there and back and I can get the same or better workout at home in 20-30 minutes. Going to the gym and/or working out for hours is not sustainable especially when your kids are little. You end up quitting and feeling like a failure. So what to do instead? Work out shorter and work out at home. All of my clients are getting amazing results with just 20-30 minutes of my metabolic workouts at home. Why? Because this is sustainable for their busy lifestyle and they can stick to it for months, years and forever. Trust me, the workouts are still hard even though they are shorter. You can do a lot at home. So stop setting yourself up for failure with your high expectations of going to the gym and spending hours there. Something is always better than nothing. Yesterday I made one of the biggest investments into myself since I paid for my Masters Degree. I signed up for the second year of business coaching. The first year was free for me, I was super lucky to win a scholarship : ) I was going back and forth all week trying to decide if I am gonna sign up for year two. I loved the first year and I learned so much but at the same time, it was a lot of pressure to perform. I was constantly pushed out of my comfort zone. Plus the inv...estment was big. It was scary. Getting out of your comfort zone is scary. So many things went through my head. The biggest one was... What if I fail? . . What if I invest into myself and bet on myself and I fail? I almost did not sign up....I kept doubting myself. . . . Then I thought to myself... what if I don’t sign up? What if I stay where I am? Staying the same suddenly felt worse than taking the risk and failing. Moral of the story- whatever it is, whatever scares you- take action and bet on yourself. Moving from sunny California to cold Canada and leaving all of my friends and amazing clients sucked. I kept being miserable and blaming everyone else for years. I am not kidding. It took me a long time to actually snap out of that and take responsibility for my life. And it was not easy to snap out of it. Taking responsibility for your life is ...scary because there is no one else to blame anymore. But what is even scarier is staying the same...staying miserable. I learned the hard way. Life is too short. Take chances and bet on yourself. Even if you fail, it will still be better than not trying at all. Happy Monday! 10 things you don’t know about me Hi there! Lots of new people on here, so I wanted to to share some fun facts about me. 1. I am originally from Slovakia, was born and raised there and left when I was 18. 2. I got a tennis scholarship at the university in California and played there for 4 years.... 3. I did pretty good there I was NAIA rookie or the year and senior of the year for the whole division. 4. I was born left-handed but my parents made me switch to being right handed so I ended up writing and playing tennis with my right hand. That totally explains why I did not make to the WTA TOP 10 also my drawing skills are at the level of a 5-year old. 5. My first tennis coach totally messed up my relationship with food and scale telling me that I was fat at 13 years old and it took me a long time to fix it. The problem was that I was looking completely normal 6. I have my masters degree in business. Very expensive diploma that I did not really need. Worked my butt off to pay for it. 7. I met my husband in Las Vegas when I was living in Cali and he was living in Canada. We dated for over a year, long distance before I moved to Canada. 8. I used to be a total party animal in my 20s. Showing up to my college tennis practices hangover and after 4 hours of sleep #goodoldtimes 9. My whole family is still living in Slovakia I have two sisters and none of of my family have ever played any sports or even goes to the gym 10. It is easy, quick and convenient and I can fit all of my macronutrients and micronutrients into a cup or two of a smoothie. My son is 3 years old and he is so picky about his food. The only way for me to get some greens inside him was to start making more smoothies. I am already making a smoothie for myself in the morning so why not make one fo...r him too. This way I get some nutrients in him first thing in the morning. HE loves drinking them.
