Hancock House Publishers and the Hancock Wildlife Foundation are pleased to support "A Crow Called Canuck" which features Vancouver's famous crow "Canuck". This... unique book was compiled by a father-daughter team, Arran and Haru Yarmie, who have generously forgone their royalties and are donating them to the Hancock Wildlife Foundation instead. The book will be available directly from www.hancockhouse.com or from Amazon and will make a great Christmas gift for anyone looking for last minute ideas! https://www.hancockhouse.com/products/a-crow-called-canuck

Happy Birthday Chief Dan George (Geswanouth Slahoot) Dan George, OC, Tsleil-Waututh actor, poet, public speaker (born 24 July 1899 on the Burrard Indian Reserve No. 3 in BC; died 23 September 1981 in North Vancouver, BC). By his film roles and personal appearances, Dan George helped improve the popular image of Indigenous people, often represented in stereotypical ways. Born Geswanouth Slahoot, Dan George was raised on the Burrard reserve in North Vancouver. He received his E...nglish name, Dan George, at St. Paul’s residential school, where he was sent when he was five years old. Before being well known as a poet and actor, George had worked as longshoreman, construction worker, school-bus driver, logger and itinerant musician. He was also chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation (Coast Salish people) from 1951 to 1963. Chief Dan George is remembered as a talented actor and Indigenous spokesperson. https://www.hancockhouse.com/produ/best-of-chief-dan-george See more
