The Christmas Bureau of Edmonton has been providing those in need with a festive meal and coordinating holiday giving for families with children and teens for 80 years. Unfortunately, due to Covid, the vast majority of their major fundraisers, markets, and donation desks have been cancelled. In addition, they are seeing an unprecedented increase in need this year. A rise of 15%, with ...the usual increase being 2% to 5%. They need our help now more than ever. The Hand2Hand Market has welcomed the Christmas Bureau to the winter market for many years now, to sell their handcrafted wooden toys to help raise much needed funds for their programs and services. Each year they sell out their toys but with the market cancelled this year this is a significant loss in revenue for them. BUT great news! She prides herself in weaving Unique - Original - One-of-a-Kind Handwoven Products. Helene came to weaving by chance. She retired in 2015 and with a little time on her hand, she went to her hometown guild, Le Cercle des fermieres de Sainte-Aurelie. There she wove 3 rugs, a few tea towels and placemats. Whe...n she came back to Alberta in 2016, she took courses with the Edmonton Weavers’ Guild. She is now engaged in the Master Weavers Program at Olds College and taking other courses related to weaving and art in general.
