And were back at it today with Feature Fridays highlighting one of the Handmade House artists. Today Bijoux Boreal/Lorraine Long ... Lorraine creates exquisite silver and copper jewellery which accurately replicates the organic texture of her natural surroundings. As she grew up on an acreage, she found herself fascinated by life close-up. Using a metal clay medium of Japanese origins she sourced recycled fine metals from computer parts and Xray plates which were poun...ded into powder before being added to a binder producing a malleable clay-like substance. Later she used silicon casts and foliage imprints fired in her kiln or torch fired. The binder burns away and the casts can be re-used. This method allows her to bring along silicon when she travels so she can use it to make new casts. Hi its me head of household @twofreespiritspottery posting this week for Handmade House since its Friday, near the end of my turn and almost the weekend, selected a favorite item from our online store. "Peek-a-Boo" is a quilted thread painting, hand-dyed on 100% cotton with applique and free motion thread painting created by @ritastamant. Every time I look at it I see something different it provokes my imagination! Always admire Ritas work, appreciate the attention to detail and the variety of processes that go into her creations.
