Blog post https://handymanusagi.com/custom-picture-frame/ A client asked me to build a custom picture frame with lights inside so the picture would be illuminated from behind through the canvas. After building a boxed frame, I installed LED strips inside, but even a 60 ft-long LED strip was not bright enough to illuminate the large 72x24 size picture. I ended up using four LED light tubes to obtain the brightness I was looking for. The picture glows nicely even in dayligh...t and the client was very happy. Now I’m thinking that I should build it for the pictures in our own house. LEDLED4 See more

Installing a floating vanity (wall-mounted vanity) is something I often encounter during bathroom renovation jobs. It’s getting more popular these days among homeowners because it’s a modern and clean look. Also, you can utilize extra space underneath. For installers like us, it’s a bit more work to install a floating vanity. Large vanities, especially with stone sinks, get very heavy. We need to make sure that it is securely mounted on the wall. This particular vanities in t...he photos were ones I installed this month in Vancouver. The right one was in a high-rise condo and didn’t have wood studs so I had to insert solid 24 wood behind the wall to attach the vanity. x https://handymanusagi.com/floating-vanity-installation/ See more

A client wanted me to build a movable storage cabinet. To keep the production within the budget, we agreed to make it by modifying IKEA cabinets instead of building it from scratch. I combined two kitchen cabinets and attached melamine boards at the back and bottom for reinforcement. Then added a table top, as well as casters underneath. It would have been more precise and also fun for me to build it from scratch but sometimes jobs need to be done efficiently and practically... according to the customer’s needs. After all, happy clients are what we are looking for. If you are planing to utilize your space with custom cabinets and shelves, Handyman Usagi in Vancouver can help you.
