Santa will be hitting the streets of Maple Ridge with the City of Maple Ridge’s 10-Vehicle Christmas Convoy on December 5 starting in the Town Centre core at 6:...00 PM. The convoy will visit surrounding neighbourhoods until approximately 7:00 PM. We will be providing music on the FM transmitter on the day of as we drive around the City that will have a range of approximately 5km, so remember to tune your radio to 89.3FM! One of my favourite meals is stuffed pumpkin. Simply cut the top off a sugar pumpkin, scoop out the insides, stuff it with a mixture of cooked rice, onion, tomotoes, celery and maybe some ground meat, or lentils. Season it with whatever takes your fancy. I like Garam Masala. Pop it in a 350 degree oven for an hour or so, till the pumpkin is easily pierced, and viola, dinner is served. What happens when the supply is not as abundantly available as before? More then ever it's important to shop and buy as local as possible, to eat in season. To preserve, can and freeze available produce for winter. To explore gardening in your yard or patio. The more you support local farms t...he more they can grow year to year to supply the demand. The more interest there will be from young farmers to begin farming. We need to move to a more sustainable food supply model. The movement needs to be led by consumers and communities and there is no better time to act than now. <3
