Hi everyone, It’s Thursday, you know what that means! We get to introduce you to another hall of famer from the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame. Today, we focus on George Hank MacDonald. Hank's love for music started in his home town of Mulgrave, Nova Scotia, as a child he performed in many amateur shows with his family in the local area. Eventually, he started playing the songs of another Nova Scotia Country Artist Inductee Hank Snow. He became popular by not o...nly singing Hank Snow’s Songs, but his own as well. After recording his first album of railway songs, he decided to move to Ontario. He was soon featured on CKCR Radio in Kitchener, toured with Kidd Baker, then moved his career on to CKNX Barn Dance in Wingham, Ontario. He shared the stage with such artists as Minnie Pearl, Cowboy Copas, Mac Wiseman and Grandpa Jones. In 2002, he was awarded the Pioneer Award by the Barn Dance Historical Society and Entertainment Museum. Through the years he has released two LP's, a 45 and a 78rpm, and is best known for his songs: I'll Remember You Darling", "Your Memory Haunts Me" and "The Bachelor's Train". "The Bachelor's Train" reached number ten on the Canadian country music charts. Hank moved to British Columbia before finally deciding to settle back in his native province of Nova Scotia, Hank unfortunately passed away on October 11, 2016 in Antigonish. But we thank Hank for his wonderful contribution to Canadian and Atlantic Canadian Country Music, and for all his accomplishments. See more

Did you know? Hank Snow was one of Elvis' managers at the beginning of his career? He was! In 1954 he convinced the directors of the Grand Ol Opry to give Elvis a chance on stage. He used him as his opening act and introduced him to Manager Colonel Tom Parker. Together they created a management team for Elvis called Hank Snow Attractions. ... Things soon went south and Hank was cut out of the contract all together. He soon left Colonel Parker as a manager and did not speak of him publicly until 40 years later. Even then, Hank did not have good things to say, and refused to call him by the honorary title Colonel.
