Had an ice day Aside from a brief two minutes on the coldest day ever last year, this was my first time on skates in almost 15 years. Hubby got a good reaction pic ... It was fun, my daughter said I'm pretty good, and I didn't fall! Grab your skates and get on the ice if you haven't already. I'm definitely not waiting another 15 years to go again.

FAST & PROFESSIONAL J found me online when things didn't work out where he had initially been dealing. He sent me everything I needed and already had a financing extension. After reviewing a few policies I was able to find exactly what he was looking for with a great lender and a killer rate! Congratulations on your first home J! ... I'll do the research, and if it's doable, I'll get it done. Let's connect for your next mortgage. 204-952-5759 [email protected]

SAVE THE DAY Fun fact: these guys purchased from another client of mine and that's how they found me! As stated in the testimonial, we had a very quick turnaround to meet financing which involved an appraisal. I was able to get it submitted the night I received it and approved pending appraisal first thing in the morning.I then called all over the place to find an appraiser on the lenders list that could get out there the next day. Big thanks to my underwriter a...nd appraiser for jumping on this with me to make it happen for these guys. Because of the collaborative effort we were able to get them the best mortgage product for their needs and meet the deadline! Thank you K&J for the kind words and the opportunity to work with you. I'm so happy for you guys - a very Happy New Year to you!! Make sure you call me for your next mortgage - I'd love to work with you! 204-952-5759 [email protected]

Today’s Financial Literacy topic is how to pay down debt. Debt can be a huge source of stress for many Canadians. Owing money to someone else can be tough, primarily because you don’t get to borrow that money for free. With some debts, the cost of borrowing (interest paid on the borrowed funds) can make it feel impossible to pay down. Fortunately, there are ways to get on top of this and I will explain them below. The first step is to make a list of your debts, include the... balance owing and the interest rate. Then, review your budget and decipher how much extra you can afford to pay and choose your plan of attack. 1The first option is the Avalanche method In this method, you pay off your debts by paying extra toward your debt with the highest interest rate. Once you have paid off the debt with the highest interest rate, you combine the entire payment you were making on that debt with the payment you required to make on the next debt you need to pay until that one is paid and so on until all your debts are paid off in full. 2The second option is the Snowball method In this method, you pay off your debts by paying extra toward your debt with the lowest balance first and so on. The snowball method is often preferred because you can generally see your debt disappear faster, however, mathematically, the avalanche method is optimal. While the goal of this post is to assist you with paying down bad debt such as high interest credit cards, some debt can be good. When choosing to borrow money make sure it aligns with your goals and makes sense. An example of good debt is a low interest, fully featured mortgage. It is secured by a (generally) appreciating asset, provides you a place to live and can be paid down fast if you choose to do so. More on paying down your mortgage faster next week! 204-952-5759 [email protected]

Dakota 09.11.05 - 10.29.20 . Tomorrow will be two weeks since we lost our beloved furbaby, Dakota. Thanks to my talented friend, Tracy, @pinkbrushes.ca, we will have this beautiful painting from our last walk together . .... Here's the painting, the original photo, another picture from that day, and our last camping trip, and one of my favorites of her running at the farm where she now lays to rest. . In the painting she's sitting in the basket under the stroller. She loved to sit in there when her little legs got tired. We miss her so much See more

My cousin, (Allyce, or Miss Greenshields to her students), Professor of Humanities at Easthampstead Park School in the UK provides a presentation on Remembrance Day and interviews our Granny, Anne Smith, about WWII where her father, our great grandfather, James McCallum, served as a Sergeant Major . Please talk about these experiences with those you know, and honour the sacrifices made to give us the freedom we have today; it's the least we can do to preserve their memory.

Today’s Financial Literacy Topic is Saving for your down payment! Here are some tips to help you achieve your goal faster. Set a goal! You need to discover how much you’ll need and set a timeline to achieve it I can help you with this.... Budget! see previous post for tips on how to do this and make sure you include paying yourself (in a separate account!) in your budget. Automating these savings into a hard to access account is the best way to ensure you do it and stick to it. Your timeline will help us discover what kind of account you should save in. Cut costs where you can eat out less, meal plan, workout from home, avoid buying name brand, review your utilities (can you reduce your cable or get a deal from your phone provider?) Start couponing, DIY gifts and other things and cut frivolous spending. Pay down high interest debts and don’t rack it back up or commit to any new payments (more on this next week). Take advantage of down payment assistance programs The RRSP First time home buyers plan allows you to utilize your RRSP’s towards the purchase of a home (ask me about how this applies to you and how you can use it to amp up your savings). The First time home buyers incentive can increase your down payment (but you need to pay it back) The Manitoba Metis Federation First Time Home Purchase Program provides Metis Citizens of Canada with 5% towards your down payment and $2,500 towards your closing costs. Seed Winnipeg offers the Inner City Homebuyer program to help low-income earning families save towards a down payment and closing costs for a home within a Neighbourhoods Alive designated area. Participants are matched 1:1, up to $7,000, and have 3 years to purchase a home. Start a side hustle for extra money. People love handmade items! Or get a second job. Sell things you don’t need or no longer use. Additional assistance such as a financial gift from immediate family can also be used.
