If you are looking for more insight and support with how to bring the attachment-based developmental approach to life in your parenting, teaching or with your clients, this is the conference to attend! There is an incredible lineup of keynotes, speakers and topics explored, you can check them out at the link below. https://cvent.me/8717nE I am looking forward to offering two open dialogue sessions with my co-author, Tamara Strijack. We are holding one session on Creating Play...grounds for Emotional Expression and the other on our book, Reclaiming our Students: Why Our Students Are More Anxious, Aggressive and Shut Down Than Ever And What We Can Do About It, as well as the accompanying Inside-Out Activity Guide. These open dialogues are a great opportunity to meet and have the space to ask your specific questions on what this might look like in your own teaching or learning community. These dialogues tend to be lively discussions that can create a sense of warm sharing and togetherness, which can help us to feel connected with like-minded educators and build our village. Love to see you there! #neufeldconference #emotionalhealth #wellbeing #educators #educhat #edutalk #teacher #emotionalplaygrounds #reclaimingourstudents #insideout #activitiesforkids

Leading the children in our care has more to do with relationship than anything else. Does a child feel like we care about them? Do they feel special, like they matter? Do they feel connected to us? Do they feel safe with us? More than any style we adopt, this relationship between the student and the teacher provides the foundation for growth and learning. www.reclaimingourstudents.com... #bcedchat #connectedclassrooms #reclaimingourstudents #feel #edchat #edutalk #educators #teachers See more

It’s Spring break and my son has two glorious weeks off of school. It’s been interesting for me to witness how our current culture’s values of ‘production and outcomes’ crept up on me. I have found myself having to be grounded again in what I know to be true: free play matters. It’s absolutely essential to emotional health and well-being. I know this. I speak about it. I write about it. I advocate for play in education and we are very conscious to carve out time for free play... in our home life. And yet this week, I noticed this feeling of pressure seeping into me. I felt an icky, tightening sensation begin to rise in my chest. I found myself grappling with, should I be doing more? Let me back up and explain. #freeplay #emotionalhealth #reclaimingourstudents #play #educhat #edutalk #educators #teacher #teachers #educationtalk

This spring, let's give our children the gift of some boredom. Let them fall into void moments. Moments of gentle nothingness in which they can discover their own play. #edutalk #educhat #educators #emotionalhealth

Really helpful Infographic on Sensitivity by Dr. Deborah MacNamara Sensitive kids are everywhere. Their numbers are estimated to be between 15 to 20% of children in a North American context, but they are often misunderstood or not recognized as being sensitive. What does it mean when we say a child is sensitive and how would you know if your child is among them? Here are 10 common traits that can come with high sensitivity but not be exclusive to it. These should not be u...sed to formally diagnosis a child or adult, but may be used to gain insight into their experience of the world around them. As schools begin welcoming students back to classrooms this new year, we are reminded that we must again focus on supporting well-being and relationship with our students. https://hannahbeach.ca/as-children-head-back-into-classroo/ #educhat #edutalks #educators #teacher #edchat

Let us see with our hearts And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Happy New Year to my community of change-makers! Here's to a new year! One of the greatest gifts we have as humans is our ability for hope. I am full of hope for the year ahead and I wish each of you a year of connection. A year in which we can come together, support one another, and grow together. May we hold onto the lessons we have learned about our deep need for one another and how we cannot thrive in the singular. True thriving happens in the context of connection and community. In order for us to truly thrive, we must sense our interdependence and our connectedness with one another. May this be a year of true thriving! I look forward to connecting, sharing, and growing with you!
