God it feels so damn good to be BACK. Photography to me can feel like a high a moment where it’s okay to be weird & personal because it’s also vulnerable & intimate. I’ve been easing my way back in as I 1. Currently worry about the rising case numbers in the kenora region & 2. My social skills haven’t been used in a month & a half & I’m a little out of practice. I feel like a drunk kid blabbering at the bar when out in public because juman interaction just feels so. God. Damn. GOOD. Yesterday spending my afternoon in Vermilion bay was the first highlight of my 2021. One of my favourite drives in Northwestern Ontario, I drove home post shoot with snow in my boots, a massive smile on my face & singing stay a little longer by the Osborn brothers at the top of my lungs. God it feel good to be back

& we pivot. If 2020 taught me anything it’s the importance of the word pivot. I’ve been brainstorming lately of ways to expand my business & I’m excited to announce that I’ll be launching a set of prints in the new year! There’s still a couple kinks to work out but I’m excited for new possibilities. So cheers to 2020 but 2021 can not come soon enough
If covid has taught me anything, it’s to surround yourself with the people you love
I know that we’re all currently in the same place. Sitting & waiting to see what happens come Christmas Eve. I grew up with my dad constantly saying to assume only makes an ass out of you & me. So until the Ontario government confirms our fears we wait If it is confirmed that we are going into a two week lock down period I will be reaching out to all my clients to reschedule when I am able to do so. When inquiring please keep in mind that my schedule may be backed up as I will be giving priority to clients who require rescheduling. I won’t lie that I’m frustrated at the thought of rescheduling everyone but my priority is the health & safety of my friends & family. 2020 is the year that reminds us that life isn’t all about us or what we want, & so we pivot.
Lately a lot of my clients have asked me what made you start this business? Or how did you get into photography? Last fall when I was in my second last semester of university I had a melt down. I was 4 years into a business degree that I didn’t overly enjoy & had no idea what my dream job was. All I knew was that I didn’t want a desk job, I didn’t want to spend my day working in a cubical staring at a screen full of numbers. I always thought of myself as a creative per...son but struggled with how to express myself. I use to take photos in high school but I shot automatic on a kit camera and to be brutally honest had no idea what I was doing. So I took a chance. I loved the idea of being a photographer, running my own business, & finding a way to be creative. With the help of Justis I walked into Henry’s and bought the camera I use today with no idea how to use it. I asked friends if they’d let me take photos of them & brought my camera everywhere. Buying that camera & saying I want to be a photographer was probably one of the wildest & scariest things I’ve ever done, but now I can’t imagine myself without a camera in hand. Photography is now such a big part of who I am, I am self taught & trying to better myself everyday. With only 11 days left in 2021 I want to say thank you to everyone who took a chance on me, to everyone who supported me, & continues to do so. But most of all to @justiskennedy, thank you for believing in me & for supporting my dreams, you helped me buy this camera with no idea how it would turn out, without you I wouldn’t be who I am today
Sneak peaks of an engagement shoot with Halle & Ryan yesterday! Head over to my Instagram @hannahfrancis.photo for a chance to win a couples session in the new year
A sneak peek from one of yesterday’s fall mini sessions at Vernon trail with Chace & Sarah
I don’t know if it’s the boho set up, or the way all the colours blend together, or that we shot at my favourite location, but I will be posting these photos for the rest of my L. I. F. E. If you would’ve told me back in January that I would be creating something so beautiful with all the amazing people I’ve got to work with these past 8 months I wouldn’t believe you. Everyone now has to be as extra as Courtney (I love her) because I have an addiction to being extra & I need more set ups like this in my life, like c’mon look at this photo
Yesterday I had so much fun getting creative with the amazing Lindsay Thomson
Nothings cuter than a girl & her dog
A sneak peak at one of my Thunder Bay Fall Minis, the Tree Farm did good & the we really lucked out with the weather Lenn & Matt
Portraits are not something I normally do since I love documenting how people interact with each other. But I ordered this backdrop set up & Matilda was nice enough to let me photograph her beautiful face. Not gonna lie I’m pretty in love with all of these moodier portraits
Fall colours are officially here! Yesterday this amazing family took me to the coolest little field with these old houses. Something about the worn down buildings & tall grass made it such a perfect spot
Claire & Braden What an adventure yesterday was
Lately I’ve been getting out of my comfort zone and doing more family photo sessions. When I first started this little business my fixation was solely on couples because my end goal was weddings. Now that it’s fall & I’ve tried (but not succeed) to take on less I figured it was time to give families a shot. Since I use to nanny in university I was comfortable with kids & my photos were based on movement which is all kids do. Family sessions definitely test my confidence some... days as it can be hard to direct large groups or I get worried that I missed a moment because there’s just SO MUCH going on! But Haley’s little family of three was so much fun yesterday. We wandered the woods & I encouraged the kiddos to do whatever they want and I’d be their to capture it. I’m so happy with how they turned out & that fall colours are already trying to seeping through
Congrats to Lex & Liam The Boathouse fam loves you to the moon & back

Paisley definitely was the star of the show the other night. Unfortunately due to the rain the Derouard family photo session was cut short but I was lucky enough to snag a few good ones
Sometimes you just have to let kids be kids. To me family shoots are more about documenting the love vs. trying to get that perfect family photo. Last night there was lots of running around, a tear or two, & a whole lot of giggles
A sneak peak into Claire & Derians Engagement Photos Here’s to forever guys
Earlier in the summer I had a couple potential clients reach out about pregnancy photos. It was something I had never considered & had zero experience in so I gave them recommendations for photographers in town who I thought would do a better job. I had done a more family oriented couples session with pregnant women but I’d never really done portraits or been asked to creatively capture the beauty of pregnancy. Even then when I did couple photos it was more about the couple ...then the pregnancy. I decided to ask Morgan if she’d be willing to be patient with me & trust my creative process. If I was going to figure out if I enjoyed this kind of a session I wanted to do it with someone that I was comfortable with. I’m so glad she said yes as I’m already obsessed with these photos!!! Her bump is so perfect & she gave me the confidence to now take on pregnancy sessions. So shoutout to Morgan for being so sweet & so beautiful, I can’t wait to meet baby J
