Headaches and migraines suck. We’ve all had one at some point in our life. Some worse than others, unfortunately. They’re tricky to untangle when you’re trying to figure out what the trigger might be. Am I thirsty? Did I get enough sleep? Is this hormonal? Too much caffeine? ... I am guilty of chalking it up to- ‘Oh, I probably haven’t eaten enough today.’ Just like anything in life, there are about a billion different causes for a handful of different types of headaches (tension, cluster, sinus, etc) and migraines (with aura and without). In my practice, I’ve come to learn a few tricks for easing a headache or stopping a migraine in its tracks and that involves a hands-on approach in addition to keeping up with the boundaries you’ve come to establish on your own with curbing this kind of pain. All of my chronic headache/migraine patients receive hands-on training for self-release at home when things start to get uncomfortable. There are some really incredible passive techniques you can work at that will quickly turn into an everyday routine, simply because it feels great AND helps you stay on top of physical tension in your body! Hello everyone, I have been notified today that the Government of Ontario has decided to restrict the practice of Manual Osteopathy (and other unregulated health professionals) during the time of the province-wide shutdown that came into effect on December 26th, 2020. This means I am not eligible to continue to practice until further notice or the confirmed end of the shutdown on January 23rd 20201 All registered massage therapy appointments are permitted to continue... as this service is deemed by the government as a regulated profession. If you're in a pinch, they can help you through! I apologize for the confusion and genuinely thank you for your patience and support through this time of uncertainty. I will be in touch with everyone scheduled between tomorrow and the 23rd in an effort to reschedule you for the end of January and into February. I didn’t want new and returning patients to wait in a traditional stuffy waiting room. I wanted them to feel like this space was familiar, inclusive, and most importantly feel like home! ... The picnic table specifically represents COMMUNITY where on a busy day you may find another person or two to connect with while waiting for your appointment to begin. Just about a year ago we had our 1 year anniversary and coupled it with an official Grand Opening’. One year prior to that, On Oct 1 2018 I got the keys to my beautiful empty clinic and started shaping it into the space it is today with the support of my amazing friends and family by my side. A little bit of history for you: I didn’t have a grand opening in my first year because it was literally just me working out of my office nook in the loft upstairs and 3 empty r...ooms waiting for the right practitioner to bring their energy through the door. While I started building my client list in 2016, I worked at 3 different locations as a Manual Osteopath in order to get my name out in the area and educate our community on the benefits of this practice. I also bartended late nights during the week and weekends. This is such a big deal for me because, if I’m being honest with you: Opening a full-on Wellness Clinic was not on my radar and still wasn’t supposed to be on my radar for another two years FROM NOW. I laugh thinking of the things I didn’t know 2 years ago and I’m so thankful for the ups and downs self-employment has granted me! In the first few months of opening my clinic, I would often stand in the reception area looking around at the anatomy art I hung on the walls with my Dad- the harvest table and kitchenette that I knew would support good conversations and good coffee (shout out to my girl at @myindiecoffee ). My brain would explode at the thought of how this whole idea of Happy Bones as a brand came from a hashtag I used to use in my early days as a practitioner. I was struggling with a business name- and one day my sister-in-law asked is Happy Bones your business name?. My heart skipped a beat- YES. (Thank you, @aimeesdogwalking ). Today, I am celebrating this win with all of you who have been apart of the Happy Bones Community. Thank you for all of your sweet referrals, reviews, and trust.
