11 years ago today, I would be starting my first day at one of our top banks. The only thing that could get me through the day sometimes is if one of my top 40 guilty pleasures came on in the lobby. To say Phog Lounge hasn’t been a vital part of our growth would be an understatement. I was working at RBC doing loans and investments when my midlife crisis began. I knew that’s not what I wanted to do, but wasn’t sure I had enough time left to get into the music scene, as by then, I was in my early 30’s and truly hating the direction I took my life. Sooooo I became a personal trainer in Chatham. That was honestly eye opening, as even though I knew it wasn’t for me, I knew... the power of doing something I enjoyed. That lead to learning about Phog Lounge and getting to know Tom Lucier, getting on his nerves while I had to learn that I was new to the scene and needed to be patient. It eventually lead to him asking about booking shows and that’s how Happy Little Crowd began. This is a playlist of all of the bands/artists we’ve brought to Phog, minus the ones I couldn’t find on Spotify...namely Of the Pack and The Brandy Alexanders. Retake #14 and it’s time to accept there isn’t going to be a perfect picture when you don’t smile. Sooooo...2020....it was year 3 for Happy Little Crowd and thanks to only having one show, it was our BEST year financially...still lost $$...but not as much. Joking aside, 2020 taught me JUST HOW MUCH I enjoy doing this. Just how important music is to us all, and just how much I’ll always be down to do what I can for our community. I’m hoping like hell you made it through this year as healthy as possible, both physically and mentally. I know I will be working even harder in the future so that our little live music thing can grow into a true happy little crowd. Love you all
