Please know you can start late, look different, & still be successful! A year ago today I announced that I was opening my own pet grooming business on my personal Facebook page! I wasn’t able to open because of the pandemic but I wanted to get the word out there! When I was deciding how I wanted to go about starting my own business I didn’t know a lot but I knew the following: ... 1. I LOVE grooming- making animals feel & look their best brings me a lot of joy 2. Until I became busy enough I would keep my job and work my business around my guaranteed pay cheque 3. I wanted something with low over head in case i failed 4. I knew I had to groom 14 dogs a month to cover my bills During the first 5 months of being open I was working 35-40 hours a week at my day job & grooming dogs around that schedule, grooming dogs before I went to work and when I’d get home from work- it was difficult, but not impossible. 14 dogs was my goal to groom a month.. I now do that in the span of 1-2 days depending on the day! If you told me a year ago that I would be grooming full time, booked almost 8 weeks in advance I would have laughed & told you you’re crazy! The last year has been difficult but it has helped me grow personally and professionally, starting a business during a pandemic has definitely been trying, and has made me question my career choice! But call me crazy- I wouldn’t trade it for the world! Words cannot express how grateful I am to have so many amazing people in my life! None of this would have happened without each and everyone of you! THANK YOU!
