Harbour of Hope Refugee Assistance Society 04.02.2021

This year's giving Tuesday is more important than ever as organizations like Harbour Of Hope are restricted on what they can do for fundraising. While the world has been put on pause Harbour of Hope Refugee Assistance Society has been busy helping refugees adapt to their new lives in Canada and preparing sponsorship applications for several families in need of protection. Even though covid-19 travel restrictions have slowed the process down, Harbour of Hope has been busy pre...paring to help an additional 5 families in their dreams for a new life here in Victoria. We can't do it without you! When Harbour of Hope sponsors a refugee to settle in Canada, we pay their rent, and buy their groceries, and take care of all the other incidental costs of living for their first year in Canada. We rely on your generous donations to be able to do that. Head over to https://harbourofhope.org/ to donate to Harbour Of Hope this Giving Tuesday. For more details on Harbour Of Hope and updates on new, current and upcoming sponsorships check out our newsletter below. https://mailchi.mp/63cb867a6/harbour-of-hope-winter-updates

On 20 June, you are invited to participate in a free online storytelling event featuring refugees, front-line workers or others working with refugees and vulnerable migrants. During these unprecedented times, we have been overwhelmed with stories of struggle. On World Refugee Day, we want to give space to stories of courage and resilience expressed through the universal language of the arts. The day will feature visual, performance, literary and media arts. Bring your friends..., all are our welcome to attend. A beautiful tribute for Nova Scotia by our friend and supporter Sari Alesh, who has graciously donated his talent at our fundraisers.

A beautiful story of how something as simple as a coloring book can have an amazing impact. https://www.cbc.ca//refugee-colouring-book-by-sfu-students

A farm in Manitoba gives it land to refugees to help them grown food, confidence and provide for their families. We love to hear stories like this of Canadians helping newcomers adjust to their new lives. https://www.cheknews.ca/a-healing-farm-produce-project-hel/
