After such wonderful comments yesterday on the progress at the park it saddens me to share these photos as well. After work today I went to the park to check on the progress of the cook house, excited for what I would see. As I got closer I got very disappointed. The road and ditch was all torn up by dirt bikes and quads, and as I rounded the turn there was a group of about eight quads and dirt bikes ripping around the cookhouse and tearing up the grassy area between the bea...ch and the road, they even drove onto the cookhouse. It is so disheartening when so much hard work and money is put into improving not just the park but many other areas in town. Only last week we were informed of a group of youth beating a hole in the rink walls. Parents please talk to your kids. Teach them to respect public and private property. We have no problem with them riding their bikes and quads in the park but please tell them to be careful of pedestrians, obey the posted signs and do not destroy property. I know the names of most of the teens that were there, if your teen was out and about on their machine this afternoon around 6:00 please remind them that if they were involved in this their behaviour is not acceptable. There is still a lot of work activity in the park this fall. We have a great crew working on some new additions. We were able to secure JCP funding to install a... new sign at the park entrance, one of the two new cook houses is well under way (and it looks awesome), we will be adding garbage boxes, and preparing more campsites. We were hoping to redo the wharf this year but we weren’t able to secure enough in our JCP to do that. We will look at different options over the winter and we hope to replace the wharf in the spring. As mentioned, we are making new campsites for the 2021 season. If you would like to book a site please message and we can put you on the list. See more

The Hare Bay Park Committee would like to remind everyone that fires are not permitted on the old ballfield area of the park. Last night some people decided to ...have an open fire very close to the large pile of alders and brush located on the ballfield. Had the fire department not come and put out the fire the outcome could have been very different. This was very irresponsible especially with the fact that there were two forest fires yesterday in different areas of the province - one of which is still not contained. Fires are permitted on the campsites in designated fire pits only when the NL Fire Hazard Index specifies that they are allowed.
