Had a good first day ice fishing with Colton Morrison. We fished for about 5 hrs. and landed nine pickerel and two perch. We both lost a few at the hole. The bite was pretty steady all afternoon and I caught the first fish before I even had all the holes set up. We were dead sticking and jigging with spoons with smelt and perch talkers with worms for perch. We had three pickerel over 20" with the biggest going 24" I had a double header at the end of the day. All our fish were released in good shape We had more photos and video but the camera was on the wrong setting so most of it wasn't usable. No matter, it was still a great day on the hard water!

This is a photo of Manfred, our German hunter/friend with his trophy from New Brunswick. It took a while to get it to him but he was so happy to get it in time for Christmas. His wife said she can't get him up off the floor now! So glad you like it! Hope to see you, Nils and the ladies again after this Covid mess is done!

This is how young hunters and anglers get their start. This is the future of the sport. NB DNRE should get behind initiatives like this

Pretty sad when people have to go to these lengths to get positive action from a government dept. that should be pro active in trying to manage this dwindling resource.

Took a little trip out to the mine cuts looking for minnows for the bait tank. Also got some little guys for feeder fish for my other tanks Half an hour and had lots. Easier this time of the year rather than the dead of winter. Check out the short video clip by clicking on the photo.

We need some rain badly but this is still a much better report than last year. Rain in the forecast. Keep your fingers crossed
