Dear Fellow Members, I hope that you and your loved ones are doing very well! As you’ve probably heard by now, the Ontario government has declared a province-wide lockdown, starting on Boxing Day. This is an unfortunate but necessary step, considering what the daily case numbers have been of late. Twelve months ago, no one could have predicted how 2020 would unfold. Today, we find ourselves in a similar predicament. What will 2021 look like? We can only hope and pray that the... essential lockdown measures and the arrival of the Covid-19 vaccines will make a difference and begin the process of eradicating the pandemic. I’m hopeful that this spring, we can begin the riding season with some degree of normalcy. In fact, the Executive Team is already hard at work preparing for 2021. Our goal is to continue to make York Region the best HOG chapter in Ontario, and to have the best riding season we possibly can. To that end, we ask for your help. Your participation in the chapter is the key to its success, after all. Throughout the year, there will be plenty of opportunities to do just that. As this year draws to a close, we can reflect on how our lives have been turned upside down but now is the time to look ahead, take comfort in, and be thankful for having the love and support of our family and friends. On behalf of the YRHOG Executive Team and Pfaff Harley-Davidson, we wish you all Happy Holidays, a Merry Christmas, and a Healthy, Happy New Year! Cheers, Paul Asturi, Director Harley Owners Group York Region Chapter [email protected]

Hello Fellow Members, Since my last message, we’ve seen the daily numbers of new COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Ontario. Toronto and Peel in particular were hit with the highest increases. That forced the Ontario government to impose additional restrictions in those regions moving them to Grey Zone Lockdown Level. York Region managed to remain in the Red Zone for the time being. It seems that some people just aren’t getting the message and are still gathering and soci...alizing outside their family bubble, to the detriment of everyone else. While we wait for a vaccine to become available, we can count on these trends to continue. Without the full compliance of the public to adhere to the restrictions set out by our health experts things are very likely to get worse. As such, we’ve decided to cancel the Polar Bear Ride event scheduled for January 1, 2021. As for November, it was not an active month for the chapter. We did manage to have a Hooky Ride on the 12th but we were forced to cancel the Chapter Ride scheduled for the 14th. Also cancelled was the Winter Wrap-Up event that was originally scheduled for the 28th. We will plan for a celebratory event in early 2021 to make up for it. It’s been a tough year for everyone and I’m sure most of us are glad that 2020 will be behind us soon. In the meantime, let’s all hope and pray that 2021 will fare much better and this pandemic will finally come to an end. On behalf of the YRHOG Executive Team, we wish you and your family the Happiest of Holidays and a Healthy New Year! Cheers, Paul Asturi, Director Harley Owners Group York Region Chapter [email protected]

Hey Fellow Members, Well, here we are in November and Covid-19 is still with us. The predicted second wave did arrive and with a vengeance. The increasing trend in the number of daily cases in Ontario that began in early September eventually surpassed the 1,000 mark. That scenario forced the province to impose Modified Stage 2 restrictions in selected jurisdictions for a 28-day period, starting October 19th. So where did that leave us? Although some things had to change for t...he month of October, we were able to proceed with all the scheduled rides and the chapter meeting. Here are some of the highlights: 1. Ron & Diana Visser led the much anticipated Fall Colour Ride through the Beaver Valley with Andrew Laidlaw sweeping the rear. The ride was moved up from the original date so that we could enjoy the great fall colours in full bloom. 2. The Chapter Meeting was held at the Lions & Sun where we officially announced the returning and acclaimed members of the 2021 Executive Team and thanked those who were leaving the team for their service. The winners of the $25 HD Gift Cards were Ricki Kigel and Andrew Laidlaw. 3. The October 25th Chapter Ride (post Modified Stage 2) did proceed successfully with the ride destination located in Wellington County. The two remaining rides in November will also be going to locations outside the Modified Stage 2 designated areas, as they are scheduled within the 28-day period. 4. The previously mentioned Winter Wrap Up Party that was reformatted and rescheduled for Saturday, November 28th was to be held at Lions and Sun. This event will very likely not occur as we do not anticipate that the Modified Stage 2 restrictions will be lifted in time for the event, let alone any time for planning. Instead, we will plan for a celebratory event in early 2021 to make up for itmost likely in mid-March. More information will follow 5. Don’t forget to renew your YRHOG membership for 2021! The Membership Form can be downloaded from our website and emailed to: [email protected] when completed. E-transfer payments can be sent to: [email protected]. 6. Our next Chapter Meeting that was scheduled for November 3rd is cancelled. We’ll see you on the next ride! Cheers, Paul Asturi, Director Harley Owners Group York Region Chapter [email protected]
