This is a great tip for relaxation and calming your nervous system - humming! Humming is a quick and easy way to relax and dial things down if you are anxious or stressed. Try different pitches. If you feel your humming pitch wants to move to a lower or higher tone just go with it. If your humming is "choppy" at a certain pitch, stay there with your humming and see if you can smooth it out. For example Dr. Irminne Van Dyken has found a connection between humming and the production of Nitric Oxide which has been known to improve oxygen levels in the body, enhance vascular flow and increase resistance to stress.
