Combing cashmere is truly a labour of love. It's a lot like grooming a really big, fluffy dog, including trimming nails. Here is HFC Ulla, polite and sweet. She has a beautiful, fine, soft fleece.

Do you suppose it could have to do with the time change

The Harmony Farm Cashmere Harvest 2021, yesterday. HFC Softy is a sweet, 4 year old doe with oh-so-soft cashmere <3 . It takes 30 to 40 minutes to comb the cashmere, check the goat's condition, teeth, weight, and then trim hooves and give a treat. That's 30-40 minutes for an average of 4 ounces of premium-quality, raw cashmere.

I like the colours and pattern on this little, silk project pouch, so much. It holds the "stuff" for this quiet January evening as I return to knitting cashmere fingerless gloves

A top notch line of presenters on this day with Dr. Phil Sponenberg, Dr. Terry Gibson and Dr. Steve Hart. Google their names and you will find they are among th...e top goat researchers in this country. Our afternoon was complete with fiber education/evaluation training from Wini Labreque, Wendy Pieh and Peter Goth. Attendees were blown away with a textile model that Laura Sansone from Textile Lab has created . She is paving the way for fiber farmers & designers with an effective model for all. Our dear CGA friend, Dr. Nora Desmond Kravis, from Chianti Cashmere , shared her life experience and knowledge with guardian dogs and so much more. We know many wanted to attend this conference and could not . Please keep following CGA as we hope to continue to deliver quality educational opportunites such as these in the future. Hi. I'm HFC Victoria. My sister and I were born yesterday afternoon. Our Mommy made a cozy nursery in the forest... Heide wishes we were at the hayshed, but we think it's fun "camping".

How small is 15 microns anyways? This gives a helpful visual perspective of relative fineness of fibre.

Things I wish I could explain to my goats: Absolutely no part of my body contains anything of nutritional value for you. Not even my hair. Shocking, I know.... Wheel barrels are not super fun goat caravans. Just let me shovel your shit in peace, please. if you poop in your water trough, congratulations, there is now poop in your water trough. Deworming is not a horrifying experience that needs to be met with the sounds and behaviour akin to the birthing of a demon. Seriously, just take the goop in your mouth and we can both go on with our lives within minutes. Never in my life have I accidently removed a hoof while hoof trimming. It's not going to happen. Just relax and it'll be over. Kick, scream, and cause a kerfuffle, and it'll take twice as long as necessary. I would like to survive this with no minor flesh wounds or bruises Please just keep track of how many you babies you plop out, and love them all equally. In order to give you the grain, I must be allowed to access the feeder. Trip me and maybe I'll no long feel like giving you the grain. Please kid within normal business hours. No ninja birthing in the bush in the middle of the night. We can either do a 40 minute intensive cardio session, or you can just let me catch you, needle you, and immediately release you. The choice is yours. No amount of screaming will make me pour grain out faster. The weeds on the other side of the fence are identical to the weeds conveniently located IN YOUR OWN PEN! just because you CAN poop on everything doesn't mean you SHOULD that giant 120lb white dog who will give his life to protect you and your babies? Could you refrain from headbutting him while he's minding his own business? Please? Add the wisdom you wish you could share with your goats below
