Those in the ACB Community... >Face intersecting forms of Stigma, Discrimination, and Oppression >Experience not only HIV related Stigma, but may also deal w/ Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Heterosexism, Transphobia, Biphobia >And don't forget, HIV related Stigma is exceptionally difficult on gay men, trans ppl, women, and those w/ low socioeconomic status This can then lead to isolation of ppl living w/ HIV and hinders ppl from seeking education, testing, treatment, supports, and resources!! Today, Aug 31, is International Overdose Awareness Day! These hands belong to one of the kindest humans. One of our clients, who always wears these bracelets to promote awareness, is beyond generous, advocates for harm reduction, helps others every day, has goals and dreams, has lost many family and friends to overdose, is well spoken and very intelligent, compassionate, has a kind heart, good work ethic, and the list goes on... Oh, and he also happens to use drugs.... Imagine that. A person can be all of the amazingness listed above, but many in society only see the last thing on the list. What do you see? We see a human. A human with a story; just like each one of us in this world. We are grateful to be able to spend time with him often. What a pleasure. Listen. Learn.
