Harmful Blue-Green Algae in Harris Lake https://www.myhealthunit.ca/en/news/index.aspx# Attention Campers!... There is a swim advisory in effect for Harris Lake due to algae outbreak. Our beach will remain open but we recommend not swimming at this time. Please read linked article for more details. Anyone see that drone the other weekend? We had a guest from Kontakt films with us and he took some really cool photos. Neat perspective on our very special place. Thanks Adam Bialo!

Battery Safety It’s important to inspect and maintain your trailer/RV battery each season. If you smell rotten eggs/sewer around your site, check your battery and inform the owner immediately. Refer to the following tips on how you can keep your battery in good condition and prolong it’s life. SERVICE TIPS... Perform a visual inspection. Inspect for defective or cracked case and cover, and loose or damaged terminal posts or cables. Check for swelling, heat and smoke coming from the battery. Check for an odour of rotten eggs or sewer smell. Replace battery and/or cables immediately if any damage is found. Look for loose connections or hold-downs. TO AVOID BATTERY DAMAGE, DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN! Tighten snugly. Keep the batteries and battery compartment clean and corrosion free. Dirty, corroded batteries can self-discharge, which will affect performance and life. Shine lead posts and terminal ends with a wire brush or steel wool to clean corrosion and assure a low resistance connection. Reassemble and coat lead parts with petroleum jelly or a terminal protection spray. The average life of a RV battery is 6 years. Consider replacing after this period of use. OFF-SEASON STORAGE Batteries that are not in use during the off-season should be cared for as follows to extend battery life and reliability: Disconnect the batteries to avoid self-discharge due to parasitic loads such as clocks, ground faults, etc. Put batteries into storage fully charged and keep them above 75% state-of-charge. Check state-of-charge every 90 days and recharge if necessary. Ideally, store batteries in a cool, dry place with temperatures not below 0C (32F) or above 27C (80F). Typically, batteries will self-discharge at faster rates at higher temperatures.

Hi again campers. As has been the rollercoaster ride of this pandemic, things have changed suddenly and some very significant news has just been announced by the Government of Ontario. We will be investigating the details and ensuring we are position of compliance, but may be able to open for this Friday (June 12). We will follow up again soon with confirmation and an outline of restrictions/guidelines.

Good day campers. Most recently the Government of Ontario has extended its emergency ordered until June 19th, however they continue to lift restrictions and be progressive with reopening. Harris Lake Park remains closed for normal operation at this time. Access is available for maintenance and preparations at your site, but all public amenities are closed including the washrooms and the playground. ... Our self serve boat launch is open for use. We understand that everyone is very eager to come and stay at the camp as well as we are eager to have you back, but please continue to be patient as we journey through this difficult time. We will communicate and be clear to everyone as soon as the grounds can be open in more of a regular fashion and outline and guidelines that we will have. Thanks and stay safe.

Emergency orders from the province have been extended until June 9th. We going to remain status quo for a bit yet folks. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Hello fellow campers. With the traditional opening long weekend behind us, we are missing our family and friends at our special place. At this time, Harris Lake Park is only open to trailer owners to prepare for the season. Power is turned on, but there is no running water which includes the closure of the washrooms. Attending to your site for maintenance should be kept to short day visits and please notify Ray via text or phone call that you will be there. If you come to H...arris Lake Park, please respect the following guidelines. Stay at home if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling unwell at all. Limit attendance at your site to people of the same household. Maintain social distancing of 2 meters or more from others and avoid social gathering. Do not use the washrooms, playground or any other common areas. They are closed until further notice. Do not share or borrow tools from others. Bring what you need from home. Garbage will not be collected at this time. Bring any waste home for disposal. It seems that until the emergency order for the province has been lifted, the campground will remain closed for normal operation. This means our earliest possible date for opening is June 3rd. We will continue to keep you informed and updated as information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Hello fellow campers. There was some very important news today. As of as 12:01am on Saturday, May 16, 2020, Ontario private parks and campgrounds may open to enable preparation for the season and to allow access for trailers and recreational vehicles whose owners have a full season contract. Unfortunately, due to delays from COVID-19, Harris Lake Park is not ready to open this weekend. Power will be available, but there is no running water at this time. This includes full cl...osure of the washrooms. Water tests need to be completed to ensure safe potable water for everyone. The boat ramp is available for use. Many of you have been reaching out to coordinate attending to your site for spring maintenance and in line with the Government’s announcement today, you can do this starting Saturday. If you come to Harris Lake Park, please respect the following guidelines. Absolutely no fires. Garbage will not be collected after the weekend, so please take any home with you for disposal. Ray had been working hard in preparing the grounds for the season and is targeting full operation of the camp for May 22nd. We will continue to keep you informed about our operation and updated on restrictions as information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

The Ontario government has extended all emergency orders in the province until May 19. The emergency order, first introduced on March 17, includes the closure of non-essential businesses and prohibits public gatherings of more than five people. Harris Lake Park will not be able to open for its traditional Victoria Day Long weekend. It is unclear when campgrounds will be able to open but we are optimistic for the near future. Ray has been doing lots of organic cleanup on sites, limbing trees and other miscellaneous maintenance to date. If you are looking for a status of your site or need to attend to property at the camp, please contact Ray to coordinate. He can be reached at [email protected] or (705) 794-2587. Thank you for you patience and cooperative.

Hoping everyone is staying safe. Missing you all. Updates from the government don’t offer a timeline as to when campgrounds could open. Let’s keep doing our part in reducing the spread. Happy thoughts of all the great times we have had at our homes from home. What was your favourite memory?

Harris Lake Tent & Trailer Park 27.02.2020

The Ontario Government has extended the state of emergency until May 13th. Please continue to do your part in keeping yourself and everyone else safe and healthy. We hope that relief is on the way soon so that our season is not in jeopardy. Missing everyone from our special community at Harris Lake Park.

Things have gotten a bit tighter across the province in the last week and enforcement is becoming more prevalent. The OPP is prepared to fine people $750 for non-essential travel which includes travelling to a secondary residence. Ray has announced in his letter that he does not expect to open Harris Lake Park for the traditional Victoria Day Long weekend this year. Please continue to support the Province with it efforts in battling COVID-19. Stay safe, stay home. We will continue to communicate and provide updates on our impacted camping season.

Harris Lake Tent & Trailer Park 22.01.2020

As COVID-19 continues to quickly evolve, we want to ensure public safety and the well-being of our campers. It is unclear at this time how the world wide pandemic will impact the 2020 camping season at Harris Lake Park but we will be committed to keeping you informed and updated. Please continue to assist the province with its efforts to keep Ontarians safe during this time by social distancing at all times and avoid non-essential travel. If you must attend to your property at the campground, please be aware that social gatherings of more than five people and all outdoor fires are completely banned right now. To all of our families, friends and fellow campers, stay safe and stay healthy.
