Sometimes it’s hard to be honest with ourselves, some things are difficult to admit to ourselves, the ego gets in the way, or we lie to others or sabotage ourselves to make them happy But if you’re not being honest with yourself, the most constant person in your entire life, then you can’t possibly be honest, authentic and real with anyone else. Both you and the people in your life deserve your truth! ... Here are some check in questions: Am I being true to myself? Am I doing/saying this with ulterior motives? Am I expressing myself and my boundaries clearly? When you aren’t true to yourself, you’re providing a disservice to yourself and everyone around you. You all deserve more than that! #authenticity #realness #psychotherapy #lifecoach #truth #honesty #beingyourself #psychotherapist #torontotherapist #truthseekers #lifecoaching #beyourrealyou #selflove #selfrespect #selfdevlopment #behonest

We don’t always realize the ways in which the members in our family’s pain is also our pain... If you’ve been through trauma or difficult experiences in your childhood or adulthood with your family (which we all have to some degree), then you will understand the ways in which intergenerational trauma passes through us A lot of the ways in which you struggle are either a direct genetic pass on or through the upbringing we had as children. Our other family members often stru...ggle with the same thing through their genetics or through the way they were raised. One way to really heal from this pain is to look at those who have passed on this trauma and really hone in on empathy, even if you do feel like you’ve been unfairly treated When you empathize with your family members, you are acknowledging their pain and that the ways in which they have treated you are a result of that pain. It doesn’t at all mean you are exonerating them of the pain they have caused in you, quite on the contrary actually When you are able to have compassion for those family members who have wronged you, you can see that it is also not their fault, but a result of their own pain and traumas, which are now yours. If you’re struggling with family trauma, I commend you for your strength and I’d love to help you unpack it and be able to come to a place where your ego can release and you can realize that you are not in fact your story or the things that have happened to you! #psychotherapy #spiritualawakening #coaching #lifecoach #therapytoronto #heal #ancestralhealing #trauma #difficultchildhood #intergenerstionaltrauma #livehealthier #psychotherapist #pain #empathy #compassion #lovingkindness #hoponopono

If you’re looking for help, just remember that just going to a therapist, isn’t going to be the thing that helps you! (Although, this in an incredible first step and I always tell my clients how proud I am of them for reaching out or looking for help!) If you don’t feel you can get better, don’t have an open mind to try different modalities or you don’t apply yourself in your healing process (such as doing the homework, self help, meditations, believing in your progress, etc)... then I’m sorry to say that therapy isn’t going to help you Actually, likely nothing will help you until you believe you are worth helping, opening your mind to receiving help and putting energy into yourself to do the work needed to get better! Therapy isn’t always easy and there often can be a lot of challenges, fears and unhealed traumas that can come up. I fully understand that this can be very unpleasant at times and that a lot of us would prefer to continue on with our lives as though everything is okay but losing the weight of these things that hold us back is incredibly empowering But let me tell you that while putting in the work is often not easy, it is so worth the time, energy and work you put in and can allow you to live the life you’ve always dreamed of Therapists aren’t magical beings, we are human just like you and often get into our professions from our own experiences of therapy or from our extensive work on our number one patient (ourselves) We can only help you if you let go, open up to us, have an open mind, want help and put in the work! #psychotherapy #therapytruths #therapistsarepeopletoo #selfhelp #psychotherapist #therapythoughts #therapytoronto #psychotherapisttoronto #openyourheartandmind #applyyourself #healyourself #letushelpyou #gettingstronger #selflove #selfcare #trauma #healing #therapy #needhelp? #covid19 #mentalhealth #ontariotherapist #howtherapyworks

Here are some ways in which COVID-19 is causing difficulties for people and how the need for psychotherapy is on the rise as peoples’ mental health suffers immensely. This includes the impacts of isolation, being stuck with the people you live with, losing your job, no events (including birthdays, funerals, weddings) and working from home. If you are interested in reading about the impact of the pandemic, some specific examples of struggles people may be experiencing at this time and how therapy may help you, check out this blog post!

If you love yourself enough, you don’t NEED other people’s validation. Don’t get me wrong, it’s always nice to receive validation but what if you no longer NEEDED it?! When you truly love and respect yourself and stop requiring external validation, you will notice that naturally, you will actually receive more validation, love and respect from other people Are you interested in learning more about how you can cultivate more self love for yourself? Have you ever heard of ancestral trauma? Ancestral trauma is trauma that is passed down through your ancestors and family lines. Most populations of people have gone through some sort of persecution, abuse, and difficulties. What if I told you that this is actually passed down through your genetics and how you are raised? Do you notice that things you suffer with are similar to the sufferings of other family members? If you’re interested in learning more about ancestral trauma and how to clear it Check out this blog post

Our earliest attachment forms in childhood with our parents Bowlby’s attachment theory clearly explains how we form bonds in our earliest childhood with our parents. If our attachment is not secure attachment, we can fall into patterns of anxious/ambivalent or avoidant attachment styles which have a great effect on our ability to have relationships in our adult life: whether it be a partner or even friendships Outside of just attachment, we can also fall into patterns o...f specific dynamics with our parents that continue in other relationships. For example: the cycle of abuse, narcissist/empath cycle, etc. These dynamics can be very toxic and can cause a lot of challenges, distress and mental health challenges in one’s life If this resonates and you are interested in working on this, give psychotherapy a try! #psychotherapy #johnbowlby #attachmenttheory #familydynamics #therapy #counselling #gethelp #psychotherapist #toronto #maladaptivepatterns #helpyourself #harssarsholistics #unhealthyattachment

Are you interested in psychotherapy and want to know how to get the most out of your experience? Psychotherapy is not only used on people with severe mental health issues, but is amazing even for the average person experiencing some difficulties in their life and who needs support, validation, or healthy coping mechanisms. With COVID-19 numbers on the rise and a holiday season and New Year’s with more isolation, it’s not a wonder why people are needing more support than usual. To learn more about how to get the most out of therapy, check out this blog post

Did you know that trauma and emotional pain sit and can get stuck in different parts of the body? Not all of the pain in our bodies is related to muscle tension and body strain. Much of our unprocessed emotions get stuck in the body, and sometimes the only way to heal it is through bodywork, which outlines the importance of this kind of regular body maintenance. If you’re interested in Thai massage services with a twist, check out this blog post!
