Your artist may have a few tweaks, so listen to what they say, but this is our general overview of aftercare process for a happily healed tattoo... . Your tool kit: -Unscented soap ( Hart & Hamilton @hartandhamilton foam soap or even Dove or Ivory are quite gentle, even with the light scent ) -clean towel -a gentle hand -healing balm or unscented, dye-free lotion (we love Hart & Hamilton's all natural , industry tested balm, with or without CBD) . Your artist will bandage your tattoo. Our artists use their preference of professional bandage. Follow your artists instruction on when to remove it. . If you have a self adhesive, clear bandage on your skin (affectionately known as 'derm' if not by brand name), take it off in, or after, a hot shower. The steam and heat will soften the adhesive. Peel it back gently or stretch it to remover it DO NOT rip it off fast. It can cause damage if yanked. . Wash gently with just soap, your already clean hand , and water . Pat dry with a clean towel, everytime. Paper towel is your best bet to be sure it is clean. . If you have adhesive left over on the skin, use hand sanitizer (ouch, but effective) or Hart & Hamilton ointment (will take multiple applications over a day) to remove it. . Leave the tattoo for a few hours before putting ointment on it the first time. When it starts to feel tight , you'll know it needs a bit of ointment . Use only enough ointment or lotion to keep the tattoo suptle (not wet ) . . Do not submerge your new tattoo in any body of water (from bathtub to lake, its a NO) until it feels like normal skin again. . Keep your healing tattoo out of the sun for 2 weeks and use sunscreen diligently AFTER the healing process. . If you have any after care questions, contact your artists directly, or contact the studio , with AFTERCARE as you subject or opening line, for near immediate response. .
