Season of Solos, H'art Studio's Fall 2020 programming, is off to a great start! On-site artists are taking part in Orff music workshops, exploring the concept of "inspiration", and more. Next week, our virtual program follows, and artists will take a deep dive into the meaning of solo and look at the solo activities that inspire them. This summer started with the intention to shake off physical inactivity from quarantine and encourage healthy movement and food choices. We wanted to get moving. We wanted to connect and encourage each other. We wanted to get back in the swing of things. This week, we are finishing up many of our summer projects like our book covers and these movement figures. On Zoom, we are winding up our movement discussions with a week focused on lyrical dance and ballet. So before we transition into our Fall programming, to all our artists who kept moving and creating during this time: Take your bow!

Our phased-in return continues this week. At the Centre, artists are finishing up some long interrupted work. Online, we are discussing different styles of dance from around the world and learning about musical theatre and contemporary dance. This moment in the world has heightened awareness about how vitally important the arts are to people's daily lives and how, now more than ever, we all need to be flexible and creative and to work to remove barriers to participation in the arts for all people. Have you ever wondered if you can make a difference with your skills? Well...you should get to know our friend Shirley Ballantyne. We told you in our recent newsletter* that she was raising money to support H'art Centre throughout the pandemic by making and selling masks. She stopped by recently with another donation.
