When we were first diagnosed we were sleepless in the hospital questioning if we would still be able to experience normal. World Diabetes Day. As anyone living with or caring for someone with T1D will tell you its a bitter sweet day. We take a sigh to recognize what it would be like if we never met this disease. We also pause for a moment to think about the time we encountered a scary low blood sugar level. We think about all those who have battled before us with less technology, research development and way less sleep. We give thanks for the support of family, friends, community and new friend...ships in the T1D world. We take a moment to be strong and recognize what we can and cannot control.
