This year, we’ve been granted a window to see where we are spiritually, both personally and corporately. The work God’s doing in our lives is no secret, it is that we would be conformed to the image of his son (Romans 8:29). This is a process we call sanctification, or as the apostle Paul says in this week’s passage, the working out of our salvation. In this process, as hard as it often is, there is joy to be found. This is why God has allowed this season for all of us, that we would grow and be transformed into his likeness. Since reconciliation is available to us and the peace that comes with it, why would we continue to look at the creation and not see the Creator? Why would we continue in our sin thinking it can satisfy? Why would we continue to think that being religious or morally upright could save us? In 1678, John Bunyan wrote the Christian allegory, The Pilgrim’s Progress. It has never been out of print since then and today it is available in the traditional text, an updated, modern reading, and a children's version. Pastor Todd shared an excerpt from Pilgrim’s Progress in his message yesterday. Pick up a copy and follow the epic adventure of a man named Christian who leaves his home in the City of Destruction and begins a life-long quest to the Celestial City.
